Description
with steps...All the 4 previous images, incl this one, were done with HDRI images in Firefly. here a shadowcatcher prop was used to emulate shadows.

this is probably the best of the set, but I still prefer the sets you put together yourself, you always kick ass on the mats

hehe thanks dude. yeah this was just a fun challenge. Its always better to use actual props in a scene, you get a better interaction with the light that way.

Honestly, it's good to have a bunch of hdri skies for your exterior shots (or any shots where the sky is visible). As long as whatever is on the .hdr on it's horizon isn't visible in your set (obscure it with props), it is the best way to both take care of having a sky texture while also lighting your scene.

Looks great! I am also curious as to whether you have her standing on a box or something that is invisible or something. Also, do you ever use a magnet or the morphing toolΒ to tighten up shirts like that in the cleavage area (i.e. cloth would stretch straight instead of move toward the middle fo the chest.

I used the poser default stair prop as shadowcatcher yep that tshirt needs to be adjusted. I usually do that in zbrush, but I wanna try extract cloth sims as FBMs in future

Extract a cloth sim as an FBM? That is actually a genius idea. I feel dumb for not having thought of it.

hehe, careful though, it will only work for clothing with a welded base mesh, and you need to constrain the buttons because they just drop off

having the buttons pop off is actually something I'd want to happen!

How the !@#$ did you pull that off?Β Β Lift her off Y axis zero? Is the lens flare inΒ the original HDRi? Where did you get these?

I used Poser's default stair prop, extracted the top polys and made that a shadow catcher. I aligned them with the HDRI, added a 400% infinite light aligned with the sun in the HDRI, 5% blur, and rendered. I did need to do some small touch ups just at the steps where the shadows were too sharp. I also had to lighten Lali a bit and added a bit of glow and a flare to the image, otherwise Lali would have looked too pasted on

Ha Ha! and I thought you were just doing "test renders" and you go all artsy-fartsy! I try to limit my post work to logo compositing and brightness / contrast.
I've spent the afternoon and part of this evening playing with HDRi spheres in both PP2014 and PP11... FF in 14 and 11 both work pretty much the same. You can use the default poser ground plane or a 2-d plane. One infinite light at 100% and Depth of Field and you have a nice scene... but SF in 11 won't see a shadow catcher unless it is a "real" prop [unless I'm missing something... I can get away with using a real ground prop with an HDRi if I'm careful how I frame the shot...

hehe for me that is a test render! The HDRI did most of the job, I just polished it up.Β
This image is an exception, as well as the bicycle scene, but generally its better to fill the scene with props then you get a much better interaction of light. HDRI can serve as a good skybox for outside lighting. Just using HDRI is severely limiting, and tremendously hard to composite properly, as you can see.

This is really an excellent lighting. I love the very good use of the HDRI here to light the scene. Good use of the shadow catcher.

According to the HDRI pictures quality,This techniques mostly of time gives more realistic rersults!Of course we need a picture that exactly we want for our concept!

yep. pure HDRI picture compositing should just be done for a fun challenge like this, or simple portraits. HDRI serve better as a sky light box
