Description
A local comic artists' collective is putting together a kids' coloring book. So I'm (taking this opportunity to advertise my all ages comic book) contributing a few ink drawings to the project. Here's one of them, which I colored all by myself, using GIMP. I made my clouds look extra special by removing the ink.Related content

Ah, this is very cute!
I really particularly like how you handled the grass -- the differences in hue there give it a more natural feel.

Thanks, Sam.
I finally heard from Comixology that it will be released one the 14th of this month. Their story is that they have far too many submissions to work through them in a timely manner, and I suppose if that's true, they'll close their doors to independents too, in favor of focusing solely on the titles coming from the major distributors.
Incidentally, does it seem proper that I can't get Crystal into a LOT of magical girl groups? I'm thinking the problem is she doesn't look like she was drawn in Japan. But what about Star and Ladybug? They don't seem to be having difficulty getting accepted.

Interesting that Comixology is so far behind -- either they need to hire more staff, or... Well, I wouldn't be surprised if your thoughts on them closing the door to indies might come true one day. I suppose we'll have to see.
For the time being, if you don't have any exclusivity with Comixology, you might wanna check out Gumroad as a secondary point of sale? I'm using it for distributing a couple of things, and they do have this whole "centralized" storefront too.
As far as magical girl groups -- that is actually very interesting. Hm. I'm curious to know which are being silly (and I also sort of wonder if they have a bias against anything which isn't produced by a large company or is similar to a "traditional" magical girl sort of setup)...

I'll check into Gumroad.
The only girl group I can think of by name is Magical Girl Alliance. They used to accept my work, but they quit a few months back. I've officially given up on them. Whereas the others? I never even got started with them, so I can't remember who they were. I believe you submit to some group called Fearless Females or some such thing (a lot of people I watch do as well), so I'll probably check into them if there's going to be some hang-up on whether or not my character looks like a traditional Japanese-style or not.
Not that I've had a lot of success with submitting to groups. It seems like a lot of people want to use groups to increase the number of people who look at their work, but no one wants to spend the time actually looking at what other people submit to it. Especially in comic and web-comic and writing groups. So what winds up happening is, you submit to a bunch of groups, and no one but your regular watchers clicks on the thumbnail for a better view anyway. On the other hand, groups DO work out pretty well for posting fetish, porn and fan-service pictures, because who could possibly get enough of those!
I'm only cynical because I haven't found a good group, I suppose.

I hope you're able to find a publishing network/system which works better for you! *_* I just like Gumroad because folks can choose to put up more for something if they want.
As far as groups go -- actually, a lot of the groups that my artwork gets submitted to are usually done by one of my watchers (excepting the couple that I admin, and the photoshop resource groups, of course). But the MagicalGirl-Alliance group I think is dead. Primarily because its singular admin doesn't log on very much. Ah well.
The other groups though - I'm not entirely sure what to do 'bout them. Groups on dA used to be SO good, and then they stagnated. AND THEN dA did a thing recently and limited it to 10 submissions/user/day. (That's it. So if you wanna start a new group and get some content going quickly? GOOD LUCK WITH THAT). I don't think a good group will exist until they decide on a direction for that part of the platform.
Some groups are basically echo chambers, though. Throw your stuff into the void and hope senpai or someone notices! Yaaaay Groups focused on a specific topic rather than a genre or general aesthetic (or as you mentioned, adult content) seem to do better with getting eyeballs on things.
On that note, have you thought about making a group specifically for aggregating work-related to Crystal Knights?

Gumroad looks very cool. Although I wonder about my ability to make any lasting impression anywhere on the internet.
The groups thing sort of makes sense to me, with the limiting to 10 pieces per day, only because the most annoying thing about groups is when your inbox gets flooded with a bunch of crap that isn't worth even the most cursory of glances, and then the offenders wind up submitting so much work that things you might want to see get lost in the shuffle. Which is why I only actively watch 2 or 3 groups. Too many things in the inbox causes me mental fatigue.
I would never make a group specifically for some sort sub-set of works of mine. Seems wasteful and narcissistic, but I suppose that's only my opinion about it. And if people aren't going to pay attention to what I do, why would they pay attention to a group about things that I do? Granted, there's a pretty sharp divide between Crystal and the other things I do.
I am contemplating doing the first chapter of Crystal Knights over at Tapastic when I have 5 done. Which, of course, I'll be asking for you to do a back cover for, as soon as the finances are worked out. We still have plenty of time, though, because I'm about 13 interior pages and a comic-trade away from being done.

Well, the software has all those textured brushes built into it, you might as well use them for something.
