Mykonos is, I believe, the only island of the Cyclades where the inhabitants paint the windows and doors of their houses, as well as the domes of the churches, in colours other than sky blue. Red is very common on this island and a characteristic mark of the local architecture.

Sometimes in summer the southern winds blow hard. They come up the Aegean straight from Egypt and its desert, and "tint" the sunlight yellowish. I tried to recreate this here. Imagine the deserted streets after lunch, when not even cats venture out under the sun, the wind howling through the alleyways, the camera shaking in my hands and the walls reflecting the warm, golden glow of Africa.
