Description my first whole-digital lineart! woo!

not completely satisfied with it, there are some inconsistansies regarding thickness and whatsoever, but those fixes are for some other time, as i've dubbed it done. it took me 4 layers of scetches underneath the layer you see here to slowely work up to this amount of detail, but here it is.

if anyone thinks 'man, thats 1337' and wishes to color it for shits&giggles, notify me and share your email so i can send the high-resolution photsop file

err... oh yeah, its depicting one of them satyr people from the universe of warcraft. yeah.

have fun with it. or something.

oh ye, please full fieuw to see the details on the face <3, if your computer isnt too slow

Well, is not very accurated (if it's a WoW's satyr) but I will try to color this I did the same before for other friend, on a quick practice, here the result [link]

Can I borrow this lineart?

ofcourse you can. Also, accurate is relative. If i wanted to draw things exactly as they are, i'd draw from real life (wich i do, occationally), i like to give my own flavour and twist to things.

Also, if you observe the satyr in wc3 you'll see that they have a split upper lip and a bit of a cattish face, i simply elaborated on that direction of satyr, more antipromorph.

well, heres how it goes.

first i make a layer on wich i do a general scetch of flow, in just lines mostly, to get a sense of pose and composition. then i reduce the opacity (to 50% or 25%, still visible) on that layer and make a new one on top.

on this new layer i start to add volume and some more shape to it, and try to be as anatomically correct as i can. again, reduce opacity, make new layer.

on this one i start to define some features, seporate fingers, place the eyes, shape the hair, etcetera, untill the creen gets too cluttered with scetch lines again, so i again reduce opacity, and make a new layer.

on this one i start a scetch with a smaller brush, and start doing all the details. once thats finished, reduce the opicity just a bit, make a new layer again.

on this layer then i make the final lineart, following the detailed scetch. for this i use a 100% opicity black brush, for the scetches a 50% brush. to get a more scetchy feel, mostly.

once done with the lineart, i hide all the scetch layers and then tweak the lineart as i see fit

Thanks very much for the tip, sounds like a very patient way to go. Also very fun, I like sketching a lot more, I think it's that last step of detail that scares me the most.
Thanks again for the help ^_^

well i just thought it'd be inetersting to see how someone else would color my lines, how they would vieuw it, sorta speak. i've never really done a cooperative piece before. though ~AurenB and i both bot open canvas recentle, and will be sure to try and do a cooperative painting like, painting at the same time that'd be incredibly fun i think.

i'd just be cool to do some swapping, thats the whole point of 'joining a community' isnt it? you can learn from eachother ^^.

wich i need to do, becouse i've come to a point where i cant improve all that much anymore just on my own and looking at the works of Samwise, Metzen, Twincruiser and Thammer [link]

though i will keep working on pictures and try to capture that 'blizzard vibe', becouse one day i'll work for blizzard, and i would like to be able to... live up to expectations, make a great company BETTER!

*cough*

thnx for replying

--i'm verry happy with the feral look as well... it seems i'm finally getting rid of my big-head-syndrome (just look at whitehorn and the moosemaster, the size of the moosemasters head is about right, while whitehorns head is about 4 times that size )

If my tablet gets working again soon I might take a shot at it...
Love this, though. Looks very feral and fierce, and the lines are wicked...awesome overall.

That's great!
I not able to do lines with my tablet yet...I think I'm not used to it. Looking for another angle...I really like doing effects with ink O.o Don't know...perhaps I'm from the oldies! ^^
This creature look a lot like an Ifrit...don't you think so?
You intend to do a contest or something to the ones who color it?

no, no contest, what would i give as a prize?

and yes he may look like ifrit (final fantasy 8 right?), but i suppose thats mainly becouse they're basic shape is inspired upon the same origin in greel mythology, i cant recall its exact name but in greek mythology there are lots of little critters like this, half goat half men. only they where not badass, they where fat.

another diffrence with Ifrit is that this dude isnt exactly on fire

though satyr do tend to have blue, purple or (autumn)reddish coloration
