Wow this is adorable. I know it's an obvious shot (like snapping the eiffel tower) but it's always different because plants are never the same, and that's the beauty of these kind of pics.

Plus, eve being a black and white shot, you can see these lightning in the tips of the branches that make it even more magnificent.

Lovely (L)

I always have a tendency to shoot treas, they're so beautiful. But then I think it's too lame and cliche, but you managed to take a very original tree photo

This photograph has a delicate quality about it, as if to pick it up or touch it would be done with the utmost care. I think that the inclusion of the fence in the bottom of the frame is an important decision, and the right one. The fence brings context which I am pleased about because often pictures of this type lack that. On a small side note, the composition is wonderfully balanced.

Vignetting is mentioned above, I am not sure if this shot was taken digitally or not but I wonder of your thoughts on this problem. Well, I would say problem but then if it is preferred it ceases to be a problem. I'd like to know your thoughts on it.

I very much enjoyed this one, thank you.

i am glad you saw the point about the inclusion of the fence. while doing the composition i did try cropping it excluding the fence, but to me it seemed to turn flat, loose the appropriate distancing that the fence brings, for there is no real idea of distances without the presence of fence that in the end covers so little of the image, but turns out to have a great value in it.
vignetting was actually the only photoshopping that i did, other adjustments i did in the raw converting phase, with only adding curves to make sure the black and white balance was correct.
actually in school i seemed to have a bit to be known for my liking of vignetting, or as a classmate said "you think it's by marjo until you see the vignetting, and you know it is".
what were you views on the vignetting?

&
i really enjoyed this comment, thank you.

I think that it is an okay effect to use, although I am always wary of using something like that to enhance an image. I feel sometimes even a bad photograph can be made to look good when something like vignetting is introduced purposely. Of course, it is an entirely different matter when the effect is intentional and controlled..perhaps even in camera. If one was particularly used to the vignetting effects of a particular lens at a particular focal length etc.

I have noticed it appear in my photographs when I have not intended it, even at a focal length of 50mm on the 17-85mm so I cannot really comment on whether it is a good thing or a bad thing. I guess it is something that can be both in different situations. Yes. That's probably quite enough.

do you use lens hoods?
at work, the boss is always highlighting the use of the lens hood in conditions of mixed light.

I often don't to be honest, my 105mm has a lens hood but the 17-85mm didn't come with one and I haven't ever thought to go out and get one. That is something I shall have to consider, thank you for the tip!

at work the boss kept telling everyone that using a lens hood increases the life length of the lens, and ensuring the sharpness value stays longer.

i love the vignetting.
i'm not sure if i like the little bit of fence though.
i don't know because then the picture wouldn't be the same.
I dunno.

when taking the photos, i briefly did line the fence away, but to me it looked... too...too...just too something. and i felt that technically, both the actual fence and the tree are fences themselves, so why shouldn't they be in the same picture.

but i do know what you mean, i thought of the same thing myself, tried it too, it just didn't seem natural like that.
