"It is said that there are many universes," I remember being told by my father as he slowly rowed our raft through the cave. I kept my eyes above us, to the bioluminescent moss we grew here. "And every universe is the same, but different."
I nodded. "They call that the multiverse theory, pa."
"Do you buy it?" he asked, stopping us against a rock so he could inspect a dingy patch, muttering about sickness in the crops.
"Do I buy it? I don't know. Am I right? I don't know that either. I'm a moss farmer, not a physicist."
"Your mother would have known. She knew everything. Bright as Sirius in the sky."
I turned my gaze down to the crystal-clear pool beneath us, watching the moss's reflection twinkle. "I guess," I replied.
