Yeah I sketched, did the line art, and colored this all today! Hahaha I was in such a good mood I just couldn't stop drawing. But yeah my old tablet started working again last night, so I'm trying to push out a lot of art before it dies again haha.Anyway, this is my character Chara to those who didn't know. She loves tea, and I'll admit it is quite amusing watching her drink that with her paws.

Haha yeah its not what I was going for, but thats how it turned out. Exactly like some sort of animated movie frame. I should totally try to animate something! haha

Hooray! Es is back!
Nice sketch, Eslakon. It lacks some of the refinements and polish of your other work but it has a very pleasant, simplistic effect. (a bit like cell-shading animation) And I can see a lot of detail in the grass, wood grain, and the eloquent stretch marks on the pillow. I really like the shading, and that along with the soothing steam coming off from the tea makes it feel much more homely and warm. I can almost feel the sensation you had when you drew this. It is a very good piece.
Chara has a much different feeling to it, almost Jet Grind Radio or Mirror's Edge styled. This part of the drawing seems to be going through a metamorphosis from classical art to stylized art, with a much less literal interpretation. It doesn't look lazy or anything, because I can see the effort put into it, although the shading and design is very simple and polygonal. It might be what Chara would look like if she stepped into the world from an art program and cozied up on a futon.
Going to the last bit, the background seems the most odd and surreal. She seems to be sitting on a pillow, but then there's a blue back, a wood support beam (or possibly a tree) and grass? It seems like the picture has finished its metomorphosis I spoke of earlier and has transformed purely into cartoon, where backgrounds and physics don't have to apply. But I could be just looking at it wrong.
Once again, good job Eslakon, and I'm glad to see you back doing digital art.
In other words, when is that next journal coming out? I might want to pounce on it.

Indeed, its good to be back!
This was going to be a speed paint, but yeah lol I ended up spending all day on it. As you've already pointed out I spent a lot more time on the background, which is because I did that first. Its easier to set a character in the background once its already drawn.
I've found that Chara is a very simple yet hard to draw character, its difficult to capture her expressions and I found that the shading I did here was good enough to portray what I wanted. Plus being female, its better to leave it smooth than to litter with details.
As for the background, its a matter of perspective I guess. It worked out in my head when I was drawing it. The railing post is round, so the angle doesn't really change it. It being a front porch that is very close to the ground, that is why you can see grass above the pillow. She is lying close to the edge btw.
It feels good to be drawing again, I was feeling down and I was probably annoying some people by talking too much because I had nothing to do in the morning.
The journal will come when I purchase a new tablet, so probably some time near the middle of next month.
