Description Briefly bringing up corruption as I've wanted to for a while. I do have a bigger drawing but I'm toggling between projects like crazy right now and I'm kinda busy.

However, I've wanted to talk about how corruption works for a while now so I quickly put this together! And no, Pots' knife isn't really THAT big haha.

So, if you've seen Pots' refΒ  Β you'll see his knife has two forms. The metal form which does physical damage and then the mental knife which, surprise-surprise, does damage to the psyche and can even brainwash people. However, it's not as easy as stabbing them in the back with it and give them an order. Some manipulation and some proper good convincing is needed for the corruption to actually work. Completely removing someones good morals is difficult and so, Pots has to know the person and what their weaknesses are.

A corrupt's appearance will not change much. Only the eyes will turn pink to match Pots' corruption powers. They might change their fashion taste, though and perhaps find themselves an outfit they find fitting to their new evil selves. A corrupt will not be a complete braindead zombie, they still have (at least parts) of their personality but all their morals are gone and will happily oblige whatever Pots tells them. They don't have much of a choice as if they don't comply to his orders, they will get migraines. To help 'motivate' em a little bit, ya know. (Also to prevent them from going rogue)

If a corrupt goes long enough without complying they will eventually go completely mad and will do everything in their power to get the job done.

Corruption can be cured but it is difficult and the corrupt has to go through some proper professional therapy sessions. Not just your everyday therapy, either. As of now I imagine reminding the corrupt of who they really are (through old memories or nostalgia perhaps) and relearning them good morals. This takes a good while, up to months so you're going to need some patience and dedication to be able to pull it off. You better hope your corrupt didn't get any orders before therapy, which would make it just that more difficult..

------

That's pretty much all I have to say about corruption for now. If I come up with anything else I'll add it in here! I've always found the idea of a character confronting someone dear to them as an evil villain working for their enemy interesting. I find it interesting to see how it's dealt with since you can't really fight them as you don't want to hurt them. I'd really like to create some interesting story out of that idea!

I hope to post more lore stuff like this! I've had the craving to rant out about Bloradox stuff for a while, feels good to get it out of the system!

10 points to whoever reads the whole thing.

imagine a derg getting corrupted, then getting cured after an extensive and hard session, just to be corrupted again

Ahaha! That would be a bad day for them, wouldn't it?Β
It's possible but unlikely. After being corrupted once, you'd know what Pots would be up to if he tried it again, making it way easier to resist. He can only corrupt you if you let yourself get manipulated by him. It's sort of like the chickenpox! If you've had it once before, it's possible to get it again but it's very unlikely. Practically immune.

This is a really neat concept on corruption! The fact that pots has to get people to willingly surrender what kind of makes them who they are is neat!

Yeah, I thought that would be more interesting too! A persons mind is very complex and so it shouldn't be easy to make someone bend to your will. I feel like we all have a little voice that tells us to do terrible things when the neighbors dog is a bit too loud or when that one kid reminds the teacher about the test today. I suppose corruption is about bringing that part of you out.

If it was as simple as stabbing someone in the back and manipulate them, then there's really no point in the metal knife. I did read all of it, btw. I always read descriptions. All of it.

Who has Pots tried to corrupt? I just really wanna know!

Yeah, I thought the same! It would be a bit overpowered and it's much more interesting to have him spy on people like a real creep.
I appreciate you reading the whole thing, though!

And that's kind of spoilery territory! I do have this drawing in the works of Esterens, Aurora and Raymondo being corrupted. They are young and naive which makes them easy targets! Finn wouldn't ever hurt any of the three so they are very valuable followers! So, those three could definitely be targeted by him.
But honestly, anyone could be a target, if you dig deep enough into their backgrounds and weaknesses! ;D

Yeah. It's an interesting way to look at it! Considering age and mental stability, as well as social and health, time could vary as well. Younger people will either see him as complete danger (Stranger danger, ya know) or see him more as a friend. (If you're like me, but it's more of a lure to me so I can actually have some real exhilaration when I fucking DESTROY them! :3) It's no problem! I was eager to read what this picture could've been about!

Not too big of spoilers, though, as I see. (I kinda knew Finn would defend Esterens because of past pictures!) This kind of reminds me of that one picture you made, with Pots in the tree and Esterens like "Who dis?"Β

Everyone has a weakness and it's quite a tale to see some backstory. (Let's just hope Pots doesn't dig deep into mine. Mine is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too fucked up and I'm rather easily manipulated with the right buttons pressed. I'm also more like a snake, so a wrong movement could result in biting you hard! :3)Β

Yeah, some would be easy to corrupt and some might even be close to immune! It's all about the mental stability of the person!

My loud mouth going to town again. One of my favorite subjects to talk about so I can't really help it haha! And yeah, now that you mention it perhaps this drawing is the outcome of that drawing. And Finn absolutely would! It's fun to see people picking up on that!

Let's hope he won't! I'm not exactly the sharpest myself haha. But then again, it's a lot of work to dig through someones past like that, so he has to see some value in ya to even bother. He mostly targets people who can help him in some way, whether it be having valuable information, granting him access to somewhere he needs to go or perhaps even easier access to someone he wants to mess up.Β

Haha I guess being unpredictable is the best way to avoid him and his corruption.

Indeed!

I mean, I'm eager to learn more about this! I really am! Perhaps it might be, but it's all just a possibility left to chance. Finn is the ultimate defender!

Yeah. It's too much work for someone who's rather less interesting, but sometimes those people have connections to the people he's wanting. It's a little less work in the long run for the work put in now.

Yeah, because then he won't know what'll put you off or keep you on this trail to it.

That makes me glad to hear! I'm going to post more lore stuff in the future and always up for answering questions!
And yeah, he's a pretty alright defender! Tries his best at least!

Right you are! If you're associated with a target, you might be a target yourself! Better keep an eye up!
Being unpredictable is his weakness. He sort of depends on knowing you and what your weaknesses to overpower you as he ain't exactly a muscleman, haha. But he's an observer and he will even scan you during combat and figure you out. So, even then you have to be unpredictable and clever and probably shouldn't charge in.

I should definitely make a comic of him in action!

I can't wait to see more, really!
At least he tries though. A big blep needs to defendddd! :3

Definitely! Perhaps though, he won't know about your connections because he doesn't stalk you!
In an ask, I remember in the desc you put, and I quote, "Too bad for Pots, though. Cause if that rock is light enough for him to lift it, it won't be able to squash a single soul!" (If I can do this, don't u dare break my trust. It means that you're important enough for me to pay attention to any and every little detail.)Β
That indicates that he's not strong physically and is using his skills of the mind to get what he wants.Β

I really wanna see how he does it! It'll be interesting!

Esterens In reply to ColossalMaze [2019-04-08 00:45:41 +0000 UTC]

Hahaha! Yeah, I did say that! He's not strong at all, instead he's fast, agile and cunning! He relies more on brains than brawns! He knows how people work and how people think and can get some useful information by simply observing you. Which is why it's so incredibly important to be unpredictable, so he can't get any information about you.

But even then, as he is an evil turd, he practically has the entire world against him, and he wouldn't be a match for a crowd of people. Not to mention the police. He has a lot to be cautions of, so having some muscles and just some helping hands in general would be good! Which is where his corruption powers comes in!Β

If there's no information, there's no point in trying.Β

I didn't realize how stalk-ish I kinda sounded... Sorry about that, but I like to pay attention to friends.
IF I AM ANYTHING, IT IS LOYAL AS ALL HELL!

True, but hey! He's managing, so I'm proud of him. X3

(Sorry for short response!)

I don't mind it at all, in fact I super appreciate it when people wants to keep up with my dumb Bloardox thing haha!
It's a public post everyone can revisit whenever they want, so I don't really consider it stalking either.

If anything it makes me happy to hear that my stuff is worth revisiting!
