Description
Hello again! Work continues on the development of my WW1 story concept. I've started to come up with the relationships between the characters, and here we have two of them; Abraham Poniatowski, and 1st Sgt. Cesar Ramirez.Abraham I have already introduced as an officer's steward for the main character, Lieutenant Thomas . Cesar is in charge of a crew of workshop personnel who maintain the squadron aircraft.
Just a short bio of these two and their relationship. Cesar grew up in Los Angeles with his Uncle Dante while Cesar's father travelled the state looking for work. Cesar joined the U.S. Army in 1915 at age 17, serving first in the cavalry in Arizona. As the army became more mechanized, Cesar took interest in working with these new machines, especially when the army began introducing aircraft. Cesar was fortunate to gain a transfer to the 1st Aero Squadron of the Signal Corps, and he worked with the ground crew while the squadron provided reconnaissance for Pershing's search for Pancho Villa in 1916. When the war broke out, being one of the few members of the army with experience working on aircraft, Cesar was promoted to 1st Sergeant and assigned to the 170th Observation Squadron to oversee maintenance on Airco DH 4s. It is here where he and Abraham will meet for the first time.
Abraham Poniatowski was born in Krakow, Poland in 1900. His father worked in a factory making boots for the Imperial Russian Army. When Abraham was 4, his father moved him, his four sisters and his mother to America, immigrating to New York on the RMS Oceanic. Abraham can still remember standing on the deck of the ship as he saw the Statue of Liberty for the first time. His father moved to family in with an Uncle and went to work as a stevedore. When Abraham was 14, he began working as a waiter at the Astor Hotel. It is here that he first began to come to grips with his sexuality, as the hotel was a popular meeting venue for the cities gay community. When war broke out, Abraham volunteered for service, despite his father's protests. He volunteered for the Army Air Service, and was assigned as an officer's steward to the 170th Observation Squadron, tending to the officer's and their mess. It was here that he met Cesar.
Cesar was immediately drawn to Abraham, who as 5 foot 5 inches, stood out as one of the smallest men in the squadron. Cesar took to protecting the young corporal, taking him under his wing to show him the ropes of Army life. Abraham was grateful for this, and appreciated Cesar's attention. He immediately felt an attraction to the mechanic, but is initially fearful that the feelings won't be reciprocated. Little does he know that Cesar has begun to develop the same feelings for the young soldier. Only time will tell where this will take them.
Hope you all enjoy! Still working out the details of the story. Hope to start working on it soon. Let me know what you think! Thank you!😁
