Damn, didn't think Poser content could look that damn good. What did you use for rendering and postworking? I bet it took forever lol.

Thanks again...I'm afraid I cheat a little in that I use Cinema4D for rendering (although my version is now 4 years out of date as I can't afford to keep up with the annual upgrades and new versions). Poser is great for setting up characters but I'm impatient and got fed up a long time ago with the time it takes to set up a unique scene and then wait for days for it to render only to find out you've made a glaring mistake and have to do it again. I suppose Poser's renderer is quicker these days but I still prefer C4D. I use Photoshop CS5 for postwork, a part of my process I probably enjoy the most

lol well I wouldn't say that your cheating for choosing a better program to render with. Firefly is shit, and granted Poser Pro 2012 doesn't take too long if you render with Indirect Lighting turned off. I tried using that a few times, and the results never changed much. All IDL does it makes my scenes take close to two damn days to complete depending on how many characters I have. I can't do story based scenes with it going that slow so I just stopped using it. From my understanding Octane and other renderers is good for quality. My biggest problem with poser is trying to get the lighting to work right. Lighting tends to work just fine in certain rooms, but I have a lot of scenes where I have to keep playing around with lights and retrying just to get good results. As far as post working goes, I've never been good at doing that. But don't give up man, you have some good work in that gallery. And I like it. That's why I kept favoring most of it. I have not been through your whole gallery yet.Β

A lot more mood and atmosphere than the (vaguely) similar scene that featured in the Prometheus movie...

I get the impression that whatever dreams or thoughts are in the woman's mind as she's floating in stasis, they are not comforting ones.

wow - this is simply awesome! Doing some test renders of the new cryo tubes myself at the moment so I can really appreciate your work here. The scene is perfectly set up and it has great atmosphere. I also like the toning - nicely adds to the used look of the tubes.

and those models are really good value. I had quite a few situations where MAX/VRAY results were not really better than a good DAZ model + Octane...

Stonemason's new cryochambers ... nice idea with the robot controlling the functions. The bubbles are a nice addition, too. The facial expression of the woman is good, also the lighting and the camera tilt. I fave it.

I was hunting through your gallery before trying to figure out what you render with. Is it Poser? What sort of computer do you have? You should make a FAQ Or show a Before Postwork and After so we can see the difference! O_o Just a thought...

EStreet In reply to Vampyric-Saiyaness [2013-05-03 11:33:13 +0000 UTC]

Actually I never got to grips with the Poser renderer...Originally I used Bryce (Back in the day) but eventually was lucky enough to get the funds to invest in Cinema4D, which by comparison is incredibly quick. I'm now on a 64bit version of R12, but current funding will mean I'm stuck with this for a while now...which is fine to be honest as it does everything I need. I still set up in Poser and export as obj's to C4d (I used Interposer for a while but it won't allow the use of the magnet tool, which I find invaluable, and kept crashing C4D anyway...I still use it to quickly import textures).

I'll do a before and after if people are really interested.
