An Emo and a Tomboy on a Whirlwind (not worldwind -_-) Adventure!

Welp, I decided one night to draw something other then my Holding Candles characters, thus these two were born. Maude and Rudy, two teenage buds that hang at the skate park, crawl at the mall, and do everything together!

Pulling a story out of my butt, Maude and Rudy first met when she scared off some jerks that were picking on him. In the aftermath, Maude and Rudy discovered their shared love of video games, skateboarding, roller coasters, the mall, and of course musical theater (a one-two-three-four!)! And so, Maude and Rudy face the good and bad of teenage life together! FRIENDSHIAAAP!~

But why an emo and a tomboy you ask?

To put it simple, dunno. Originally I was going to fill the page with random but detailed busts of people, meaning I had drawn Maude first. I was very proud of Maude's final design, his coloring probably the best I've ever done. However, after drawing him, the vivid image of a confident, kind-of-redhead girl in a dreamcatcher tank came to me. I realized that she was to be Gothy's companion, and I found the contrast cute. Thus Rudy (thus-Ru-Dah!)!

First off, Maude is supposed to look kinda ridiculous, so please don't be mad at me for making such a stereotypical-looking goth character. Give him a break; he's only a teenager. Maude is a baby bat, a typical goth saying for children and teens dressing goth or anything related for shock value and/or attention. Maybe Maude as a child didn't get enough attention from his parents or classmates, so he dresses and acts in a certain way to gain notice from others. Maude is exactly that. Other than dressing in dark clothes, Maude exhibits behaviors and hobbies that compliment his chosen lifestyle stereotypically, such as acting moody and pessimistic, even towards Rudy, and writing goth poetry. Heck, it's Maude that's calling himself "emo" XD! As a result of his looks and his behavior, he scared people off, leaving him with no close friends. After meeting Rudy and despite his tries, however, Maude is revealed to truly be a generally happy character who loves Rudy's company and often fears for her safety, as Rudy often partakes in risky activities. Speaking of risky activities, Rudy was always one for adventures. Being the junior of four brothers, Rudy did what she had to to survive in her household; play just as dirty as they did. Eventually Rudy earned her place to the table with her brothers, thus they spent hours on end playing pirates, wrestling in the dirt, and hanging out in the treehouse. Eventually the last of her brothers left home for college, and Rudy realized she really didn't make many friends outside her own family. As a child, Rudy's girl classmates disliked her because she always played too rough and and was always covered in dirt, as the boys though her weird for liking what they did. Rudy's loneliness turned into anger and frustration, which affected her interactions with other people. However, one night Rudy went alone to the local skate park, furious over getting called a lesbian by some girls at school. Noticing a guy dressed all in black was being made fun of by a group of guys, Rudy went off. She ran to confront the pack of guys, threatening to club them with her skateboard if they continued. The group fled, leaving Rudy and and the boy alone. Rudy turned to the guy, his head down and silent. Finally, he looked up, a black tear from his eyeliner streaking his cheek. He uttered a thanks and continued to look down. Rudy sighed, having calmed down, plopped a seat next to him and wrapped her arm around his shoulder, shocking him. She explained herself, giving her reason of anger and why she defended him. Now looking at her directly, he said her story resonated with him, as he was going though a similar loneliness. They introduced themselves, and Rudy got an idea. Grabbing Maude, Rudy dragged him and his skateboard to one of the ramps. Rudy tried to encourage Maude to skate with her, but he was reluctant. Pushing him, Maude joined her and quickly began to enjoy it. It was the funnest time they both had had in a long time. They ended the night at a burger joint, where they, both having to leave, gave each other their Facebook pages, and went their separate ways. This one encounter will evolve in a withstanding friendship between an unlikely pair.

Also, my sister thought it would be funny if Maude had this strange fixation/fascination with popsicles XD And Rudy constantly makes fun of him for it.

And there you have it; Maude and Rudy! I love them so much. They have a great dynamic XD
