(Name) read through the email once more before setting her laptop aside. This was the sixth attempt that the Slytherin's manager had made in speaking with her. The first five were phone calls that (Name) ignored. She thought that eventually, he would leave her be, but it appeared that it was not the case.

Well, there was only one thing left to do.

“Hello?”

“Hi, Mom.”

“(Name)! Honey, it’s so good to hear from you!”

(Name) smiled, using her shoulder to hold her phone in place. “Yeah, you too.” She replied.

“How are you doing, sweetie?”

(Name) shrugged, “uhm, well. Actually, I was calling you because I needed some advice…”

“Hit me.” Her mother replied, and (Name) chuckled, pulling her laptop back into her lap. “Well, I just got an email from the Slytherin’s manager. He uh, he want’s me to join the team.”

It was quiet on the line for a few moments before her mother spoke up. “And what are you thinking?”

“I don’t know.” (Name) sighed. “I just, I’d love to play, and the Slytherins are an amazing team, but honestly, I’m scared, Mom. I don’t want to have the same experience I did with the Ciderbells. I just- I can’t do that again.”

“Honey, don’t let fear hold you back from doing what you love. Ever since you were a little girl, you’ve made your father drag you out to those ballgames, always wanted to be a part of it. You’ve always been the happiest when you’re playing.”

“Yeah, I guess you’ve got a point.” (Name) replied, lying back, balancing her laptop on her stomach. “Their team captain, Draco Malfoy, he’s been calling me a lot about it too.”

“That handsome young man from the magazine?” Her mother asked in excitement. (Name) rolled her eyes. Sports Illustrated had done a photo shoot with him as he was the youngest person to be voted into the hall of fame since Salazar Slytherin himself. (Name)’s mother had been all over it, showing it to all her gal pals she had brunch with on Sundays.

“Yes, Mom, the man from the magazine.” (Name) said with a sigh.

“It seems like they really want you to join.”

“I almost feel guilty for saying I want to.”

“How come?”

“Because when I left the Ciderbells, I promised myself I was never gonna get into baseball again. But god, I miss it so much, Mom.” (Name) informed, biting her lip so she didn’t tear up.

“I think you really have something to think about, Honey. If you do decide to join, you have to be prepared to face some old demons. But you’re my daughter, there’s nothing you won’t be able to get through.”

“Thanks, Mom.” (Name) whispered, wiping at her suddenly wet eyes.

“Anytime, Dear.”

After exchanging ‘I love you’s, (Name) said goodbye and disconnected the line. She read through the email yet again, gnawing on her nail. Finally, she sat up and began to type a reply.

Mr. Severus Snape,

It would be an honor to join the Slytherin's. The earliest I can fly out to Florida would be Sunday.
