Hmmm, not that I'm aware of. It's not that kinda environment, may as well just put Arch in a VM and put awesome on top of it

Nope, awesome is a dynamic window manager, it's not a 'full' desktop environment. If you're looking at trying a tiling/dynamic WM, you can always just leave your Gnome 3 environment in tact, then just install awesome and use it when you want.

Thanks. Sure, the music player is mpd with ncmpcpp as the client and the file manager is Ranger.
