Description
Another piece done for my communication design class. The assignment was to take a cliche and make a poster with an illustration that somehow made it ironic or changed the meaning. So... I took "An apple a day keeps the doctor away" and made 2nd fairest in the land, the Queen, and her equally beloved poisoned apple. (I'm sure it's been done before, but meh.)Done in illustrator. I hoped to get a story book feel, I like to think I was successful.

Heh. I like this. I've always liked the Queen's design, and you've pulled it off very well. I also have an inordinate amount of fondness for that castle in the back. The fact that you can so clearly get at the essence of a castle with such basic shapes and one colour is really very impressive.
In fact, I'm starting to notice a trend where whenever you use a minimalist style the results are quite magical. It might be risky to try something like this for a contest entry, but I would be very interested in seeing Jon or Avery in a style similar to this one.
If I had to point out a flaw, I'd say the Queen looks a bit chunkier than usual. Something about the length of her neck and the wideness of her shoulders gives the impression of stockiness. It's a minor detail, but one usually expects queens, especially evil ones, to be rather tall and slim.
Either way, good job with this picture.

Thanks ^^ I'm growing pretty fond of the style myself... and ya know... I may just try that O3O Just... not until this round is over. I'm gonna cut the deadline too close to experiment.
