wicked! borderline nano-tech. you must have studied the behaviour of the flie both standing and flying. (how about a resing one where the body of the flie lies much closer to the ground?)

Physical: Appearance looks great. I would dearly love for you to generate a tutorial on your methods of production. It needs to be composed in a scene, otherwise great model, great textures. I agree with the thickness of the wings.
Practical: I would think the wings need to be larger to get it off the ground. Unless the metal parts are super lightweight or the wings buzz fast, it would be difficult to take off. Preportions would be great to see (compared with other objects) so we can get a sense of its size.
Overall, nicely modelled and textured.
