well, i never thought it would happen but i've finally got an assignment in school i actually enjoyed doing! i cant explain it, but for some reason i really had fun doing this.This is for my monday Graphic Design class, the point of this assignment was to create 3 posters for "amnesty international." the theme of the posters is supposed to relate to the "Noble Eightfold Path" which is practiced in Buddism. So i had to choose 3 of the Paths from this belief system and illustrate them in a way that would properly communicate the message of each path. and it was designed to create awareness around a particular lecture series which would bridge the gap between religions and understanding of other cultures and beliefs.
for this once specifically, i drew it normally as i would but without the background, and i just scanned it in and cropped out all the negative space on photoshop and did the cloudy background there with the circle brush tool. yup...im all about being lazy!
hopefully this will tide you guys over untill i post something again, which is more "anime" style.

it would have look better if the letter was placed more in left side since the tree is filling more space in right. ^_^

like in my sketchbook the drawing was already like centered but when i made it into the poster there was so much more negative space on the left hand side!
but if i moved the text to the left to cover the space, then it wouldnt be centered anymore and i dunno if it'll ruin the composition or the way the type is read. Dont worry though, ive tried almost EVERYTHING with this, even placing the type going down horizontally but i guess this is the best solution i could come up with. overlapping the image with type.

Anyways, this art IS really cool, like the buda thing, I have no idea about it what so eve, but I can already see what your trying to represent here, like the "enlightment thinger... and the eightfold path????" lol I'm a Christian so I have no idea on it, maybe you did lots of research on it, or maybe its just that your a hardcore budist, meh, O and I really like teh multi colored angry eyes!!! and the lito tree sprouting outta his head! XD

totally enjoy being young and being in grade 9! thats what highschools all about, goofing off, cheating on tests, and skipping lectures and class to hang out. (well thats what highschools about if you dont care about your frades...like me!)
your christian eh???? umm....well im not buddhist or anything...but i do like all the concepts which buddhism teaches. yeah if i wasnt so cycincal and hedonistic, that would be the religion i would practice!

not really!
well i've seen examples of background cg being done really amazing and in other cases really shitty looking. but in YOUR case it works great! like from most of the stuff i saw in your gallery you pull it off really well and the lines are very clean which also matches your style. i'd suck to have a background which had totally nothing to do with the foreground image.
