Maiden America, Major Liberty, and Spitfire are besties 364 days a year, even though the British Bombshell can barely speak English (A "boot" is an item of footwear, not a part of a car, y'all!). But on one particular day of the year the English Avenger's high-born snottiness and smarmy condescension always feel like too much to bear. So this year, the two Eagles of Egalitarianism decided to shut Spitfire up and bring her down a peg by force feeding her a heaping helping of FREEDOM. Unfortunately, Spitfire would have to be restrained to experience real liberty, but you can't make a scone without breaking a few of whatever things are in scones, and all that....

At the moment, the Americans have Spitfire tied down listening to audio recordings of the Declaration of Independence as read by Charlton Heston and an endless loop of patriotic songs. Later, for lunch, Spitfire will be treated to chili dogs slathered with French's mustard and all the cheeseburgers and Coca-Cola she can be forced to consume....and then some. Then she will be strapped into an SUV so she can experience what it's like to ride in a real motor vehicle on a real road network while driving on the proper side of the road. Last, but not least, it will be time to kiss and make up, but it's a long time before midnight rings in July 5 and Spitfire gets to experience her own Independence Day.

For now, there's not much left for Spitfire to do curse the bloody Colonial tossers and lie back and think of England.

I couldn't think of a good title for this one. "How Spitfire Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bondage," or "Porn on the Fourth of July" sprang to mind, but didn't quite fit.
