Ha-ha, look at this pathetic idiot! Just lying there imprisoned while there's absolutely no reason why he shouldn't just stand up and walk away.Yeah.
Or maybe he has his reasons?
For you see, there are bars. Bars stop people from doing what they want. Ok, there might be enough room between them to squeeze through, but...
What if he gets stuck?
And of course these bars are not that high at all, but...
What if he hurts himself while climbing?
The bars do not surround him completely, but...
The surroundings don't look very promising, and it might be dangerous out there.
Better stay there, where it's safe and familiar...
I've been considering the extent to which we are limited by our own inhibitions which may be blown out of proportion because they're so subjective. Sometimes it is worthwhile to take the time needed and reevaluate our goals or dreams and what stops us from completing them. We might only be imprisoned by our own limited perception of reality...
As to the piece, I drew it with B+ pencils on A4 paper, using a photo of myself as a reference. I'm going to re-draw (paint?) it again in color, at least I really want to, but not today...

I like the drawing itself, I've thought about the concept time and time again and I see how it effects people and how it didn't effect me and I dunno, maybe I'm just to ickle...

As to the concept, why do you let yourself be influenced by other people's opinions? Everyone receives art from their individual perspectives. If it doesn't affect you that's cool.

Ok, here's one of my favorite links. Member I mentioned those graphite blenders? Well I found a webpage that has a very good grouping of tools and a simplified explaination of how each is used to its best advantage. The blendig sticks I was referring to are....well, I only used number 8, but number 5 are more useful for bigger areas if you get to like blending. Check it out, and try out some examples. You may like what you see

As for the pic, with your permission, I'd like to use it as a technique example/tutorial to point out some aspects of general composition. Not a bashing of the pic, mind, just a general "this is why your eye goes here, and...." yadda yadda yadda, if you'd let me.

Thanks for the link, I checked it out and will definately try the blenders out and see if I like them. Feel free to give me links, because this one showed me a few new interesting things
