This whole pic (making the 3D model and photoshop effects) took me one day to do (a new record for a 3D model).The thing I don't like about this pic is the green lighting since it looks far too cartoony...I'll probably redo it sometime later. What I'm pround of it the Heatray going off, best effect I ever done on Photoshop.
The Fighting Machine is based from the 1953 film of War of the Worlds...even though this model is harder for me to make (since it's all smooth) I managed to achieve it in the end.
So...What do u think of it?

also they have invisble magentic-like legs and than more physcal ones like in the book and other movies

this is cool. I did one too, with a photo background and a 3d ship, but its hard to light this ship, mine looks "cartoony" too a bit. Guess that is why this design is best done as a model rather than any form of animation, simply for the lighting.

cool i like it maybe if you're not happy with those green lightning-thingy's, you could add some more light-effects and maybe use another green. Just saying since you weren't happy with it ^_^ cool pic

I think the main reason the green lightning looks "cartoony" is because there isn't much green light falling on the ground, or the poof of smoke below it. Also, lightning tends to create very harsh lighting, but this pic is not harshly lit. Meh, just what I think.
This pic looks AWESOME though! o.O It's just so well done! I really love the beam.
