Super nice. When you build Excalibur you always go big.
Like in Babylon5 too.Β Β And B5 is my more favourite pick.

Excalibur was always way too big to be any kind of front-line, TacFleet-friendly vessel. it serves best as it has been re-purposed. Perhaps a more secure time could see this star-city go back to being a kind of sector-wide management / multi-mission regional explorer, but for the time being, yeah.

Between this (Excalibur-class, which I have seen with another class name, being the PARIS-class named after Admiral Paris) and the newer Ascendant-class, Starfleet is building some colossal-scale capital ships.Β I would guess many of these Goliaths would be carriers too.Β You do Great work!

The original class name was Excalibur with the name USS Excalibur NX-90000. But a roleplay group called "Star Trek Paris 2" for which the model was designed, renamed it to USS Paris without changing the NX registry number. Thats why it looks like it is Paris class.

Good, I'm not the only one who saved the meshes all those years ago before going down.
Hence my, "Remember Star Trek Australia," posts.

Had to download all of the models, because to that time i dont had own internet so i had to store them on my harddrive.
Have most of the model from the site, or at least the one that work.
Andrew Hodges, the guy who had run Star Trek Australia, is on Facebook. You can ask him, if he allows to upload the models here on dA if you still want to.

Might be an idea. Some of the ones I downloaded I couldn't due to some sort of file corruption.

Sweeter than sugar! I might want to base a cruise liner on this class; I'm planning for Princess Cruises to partner up with the Federation, and their first space liner will be named the Diamond Princess.

So they made it bigger And reduced its weapons systems...If they didn't add any more then that would work for me.Β So less firepower per unit of measurement, but then they double down to reducing the weapons.Β
Let just go with that the base ship just had more a bucket load of weapons that were not needed.
Thank you for sharing.

I can see a fleet carrier variant from this design.

Euderion In reply to blackstoneca [2020-02-17 16:50:02 +0000 UTC]
With that size, it seems a hybrid between and dreadnought and carrier. Acting as a mobile base.

Yep, it think thats the role this ship was original concepted. A command ship, or mobile outpost.

The model itself is over 20 years old, but the design still is a good concept for a mobile base ship.

Pretty massive since it has three impulse engine ports

With over 1200 meters in length its larger than the Odyssey class. So, yeah, massive is the right word.
