Description
Second Size comparison for the Mass Effect Starships. This time the top view. My first (side view) is here: euderion.deviantart.com/art/Ma…To a large extent the size are purely estimates, as there are virtually no official data.
I use some of the game models and there ingame model size as well as screenshots from the cinematics to compare the ships. But unfortunately the sizes dont match even in the cinematics. I try to compensate the mix between codex entrys and the sizes from the cinematics.
I am pleased at any time for corrections and additions. If you think something is wrong, tell me. To discuss is the best thing to estimate the sizes. But please, try to proof it.
Biggest gripe is the Destiny Ascension. The size is purely estimated from the flyby scene of the Normandy SR-1 in ME1. Its the only time in all three games we have seen a other ship NEAR at the Ascension. And considering the Ascension has almost as much firepower as the rest of the Asari fleet. And that has at least 20 Dreadnoughts + cruisers. That much firepower needs space.
I use some Reference pictures from
Turian Dreadnought & Corvette by
Turian Frigate and Dreadnought by Lord_Set
Other ships are rendered with 3d Max 10
Mass Effect is (c) by Bioware & EA

To me you nail it. It is about right in everything. Oh BTW, besides the MAKO and the other ground vehicles seen. how about the other vehicles not seen. Can you make them. I know oyu got the gift. Say A Jeep, APC, Tank and submarines?

Krogan? You are going to do the Bad Asses Krogan? Wow. I can wait to see this. They are going to be the best.

Well two things come to mind that it may have slipped my mind before, but just think about.
1) The turian frigate in the game seem to have its wings fruther back and armor less thick to make it look flemsy compared to the turian cruiser, not a smaller version.
2) The Destiny Accension is too big. It was stated Soverign was bigger and able to ingulf the ship but it doesn't seem possible in this version.
Other then that good work and keep it up.

Thanks!
1. In the game files there is no such thing than a turian cruiser, frigate or Dreadnought. There is only one turian model who is used for every turian ship in all three games. All they changes is the size. So we fans have to do the other versions.
2. Yes, its too big. But not much. I have made a new comparison here ( fav.me/d7xjxot ) with a corrected size of the Ascension.

Is the Destiny Ascension really that big? I mean it must be bigger than the Citadel itself, comparing it to Sovereign (that landed in the middle of the Citadel as I recall).

Destiny Ascension is a hard case. The DA size on this comparison comes from the first flyby scene of the Normandy. Thats the only time in the trilogy where we see a other ship very close to the Asari Flagship. Is this size realistic? I dont know, but its what we see in the cinematic and we dont have other data about this ship.
I have made another comparison where you can see this size of the Ascension together with the Citadel here: fav.me/d75wz9l
My final work for ships of the Mass Effect Universe is here: fav.me/d7xjxot There i use a smaller, maybe more realistic size for the Ascension.

Ohh, well, the ME series isn't really portraying some of the scale of the ships(in codexes and such), but you did a really good job approximating the scale of these ships. I could care less if it's realistic, all I know it's that this comparison is awesome. It also turns out that Sovereign is longer than the DA, but is actually smaller overall, but Harbinger is actually a bit fatter than Sovereign, making it bigger (just not taller) than the DA. What I'm trying to say is that it's awesome.

the crew of the Normandy saw sovereign before they saw the DA and they were still awe struck by it; she's pretty big; probably more massive than sovereign.

Still surprises me the Reapers are that small compared to the Destiny Ascension.
The games always seem to give the impression their bigger.
Either Bioware aren't good at scaling, or they got the measurements wrong.

Actually in the games is stated tha Sovereign is 2Km long and larger than any other ship in any known fleet. That includes Destiny Ascension.

But also a Mosquito can hurt you.
In Star Wars the Death Star was destroyed by a small X Wing Fighter Craft.

Citadel is way to big for this chart. Maybe i make another chart with the stations of the Mass Effect Universe.
