I like the face, if you can call it that, especially the beak (: The shading looks good too, though I might suggest that you avoid outlining at all times when drawing this way (it's visible around the head) and instead rely on shadows. Keep up the good work!

yes... that is one terrible flaw... i get in the habit of sketching the outline leaving terrible line marks, thanks for the suggestion!

nice work& i too agree that scanning just doesn't do some artwork justice... especially when most of my artwork is larger that my scanning size....

yes, when you are trying to get a piece that is 18X14 into a tine 12 X 8 scanner... well thats when things really get interesting

mm indeed, about 90% of my posted drawings are cut portions of the overall drawing. it's frustrating when you want to offer a drawing or illustration as a print or what not and all you can scan is a small portion. the clash of the traditional art into the computer generated realm.....

Honestly I have never used a digital tablet. So it would be hard for me to provide any useful advice however as general aesthetics go try outlining your horse/ subject in a light grey or even white, this provides less emphasis on your borders and leads they eye to observe value and light changes more. Thus making your shading really stand out more.
