Description An old railroad bridge over the delaware that I like to hang-out at. I used my Peleng 8mm fisheye for this shot, and cropped the corners out. I think it came-out pretty decent, but I would have liked it to have been a little sharper. It's kinda tough w/ this lens, but sometimes I'm just amazed at the shots I get w/ this lens.

Wow, those are some amazing lines. A great structure to be captured with a fisheye! To make the composition perfect you could have made sure that the beams (top corners) are symmetric. But don't worry, it looks cool as it is!

Thank you! There wasn't much I could do about the beams. They aren't symmetrical to begin with. They kinda sit alternate, but the fisheye actually made them look straighter than they really are(seems strange, but it's the truth ). If I had gotten them symmetrical, the bottom of the photo would've been out.

Ah, I see. Well yea, the bottom is definitely more important for the photo than symmetry in the beams ;]

Congratulations on second place in the BRIDGE contest! This is a wild shot! I've been afraid of trying fish-eye lenses, but you have convinced me to reconsider it.

Thank you. I can't believe I even placed second. There were alot of great entries in the contest including yours. You also have some awesome waterfall shots. The fisheye lens is pretty fun, but it's definitely a specific situation lens. I paid about $200 for it on ebay, and it's worth every penny. It's probably the least expensive 8mm fisheye out there, so if your not sure whether you really want to mess around with one it's not much to spend to try it out.

Thanks for your comments!

I've looked into this a bit more since sending you my message earlier today. I was already aware of the more expensive Nikkor 10.5mm fisheye , but I hadn't really considered getting into that realm of photography until seeing your photo. (seriously!) One advantage to going with the Nikkor is that Nikon Capture has a very cool feature which unblends the fisheye image and makes it into a hyperwide image! There is an example here: [link]

That's a pretty cool lens. I like the idea of putting filters in the rear of the lens. That's not an option with the Peleng. I'd like to see Canon do something like that. I've seen software online that does the same thing for just about any fisheye lens on the market. Here's a link to to the site: [link] I don't have any experience with it yet, but I plan on messing around with that too.

I thought you'd like it. If you happen to start playing around with this before I do I'd like to hear your opinion of it. I think it'd take the right photo for this to work well, but I'm sure it can yield some pretty cool results.

Thank you. There was a storm moving in behind me when I took the shot. It started pouring about 10 minutes after this. And by the way, your gallery is awesome. Love all your photos. Keep up the grea work.
