Description BlackTalonArts was poking me about this one, so here it is. I originally just made it as a fun desktop image, but I liked how the helmet reflections came out. Hopefully a few of you do, too!

Thanks so much! Having created this, playing with it is a lot of fun. I have quite a few renders of it that I will not put up (because they are all quite similar).

Oh my word, the lights and the reflections not to mention the colors are superb.
Also there's something sensual in the pose, i can't define in words what it is, but is there. Now we want to know who is behind the mask.
No defiance or changing subject this time.

Octane really suits you, glad you have given it a chance.

Euskelo In reply to Grim-Red [2016-11-28 10:33:36 +0000 UTC]

Thank you for the nice feedback, my dear. Your encouragement and tips were invaluable in picking up Octane! I am not sure about showing the face behind the mask. I am not happy with how skin is looking on Octane at the moment. I know it can do better, so I am frustrated... It should not matter (subject, composition etc. are more important!), but it does to me...

Grim-Red In reply to Euskelo [2016-11-30 12:08:16 +0000 UTC]

If you are not happy with the look of the skin, it does matter.
After all, the skin tome is part of the character itself.
my only suggestion is to approach the skin setting in Octane like a toy to play with, trying out the odd combinations too ( often they turn out to be the right ones), otherwise the frustration will eat you inside out.
On top, not all the pre made skins have the same response with this refractive engine.
What i can see, though, with mats and lights you have tamed the beast greatly and is such short time, i can only take my hat off, congratulate and encourage you to venture forth and further.

Thank you, my friend. I agree about trying different things out. I really like a lot of aspects of G3M, but its geometry seems to be problematic (as we have discussed before) and also 90% of the skins available do not impress me. Maybe I need to go back to G2M for Octane... the only problem is I find the G3M body to look quite a bit more realistic... but maybe that does not matter so much. I tend not to show my characters naked, though they all get rendered that way at some point.

Grim-Red In reply to Euskelo [2016-11-30 22:27:09 +0000 UTC]

yep, i do it too...just mere technical interest about how the skins work in Octane................................

Yeah, right!

Back to serious things: i agree about G3 figures, they look a lot better, specially when is a matter of posing the junctions.
I warmly recommend those converters, the current skins available for G3M are nice, but very " all look alike" , predisposed for i-click stuff for IRay.
Not a defection, just a restriction, and considering that male figures are already "outcast", i almost had no choice but to try to save the ones i have ( one in particular, i was getting desperate).

I hope you will find your way through this jungle.

Euskelo In reply to Grim-Red [2016-12-01 09:36:22 +0000 UTC]

Aye, I think I need to spend some time with G3M and see what can be done with converting skins. I have seen Jepe do some lovely work with G3M using his old M4 skins so it must be possible! That would open up a lot of possibilities. Do you think it is possible to bring over skins for old female models (e.g. V4) or is that too complex?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Grim-Red In reply to Euskelo [2016-12-01 09:46:11 +0000 UTC]

I do not know for sure, but a lot of people are asking for this conversion.
I can check and see what i can find, indeed, i might need it too, for a certain female character with very pale skin and purple eyes.
I will keep you posted.

Euskelo In reply to Grim-Red [2016-12-01 09:49:20 +0000 UTC]

Hmm... I was able to get V4 skin onto G2M without too much difficulty—as on the character in my icon—but I am not sure if it will then work on G3M. The G2>G3 conversion might screw it up. We will have to experiment!

Grim-Red In reply to Euskelo [2016-12-01 09:58:02 +0000 UTC]

G3 has a totally different UV mapping, i have banged my head against the wall already.
But if you find a way, please let me know how you did it.
In the meantime i keep an eye open.

Euskelo In reply to Grim-Red [2016-12-01 10:03:41 +0000 UTC]

I have some thoughts on a couple of ways to approach it. It might be possible to get it working in DAZ, but not sure about what it will export to Octane. I will let you know if I have any success!

Yes indeed I was! lol I'm so happy you uploaded this, those reflections are amazing as well as the saturated colors (which I'm a sucker for).  This looks like you rendered it in Octane because it's so lifelike, crisp etc...I could be wrong.  anyways, love it!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Euskelo In reply to BlackTalonArts [2016-11-26 20:45:55 +0000 UTC]

It is indeed Octane. So many satisfying reflections to be had! I did not play with the colours afterwards, either. This is how it rendered. Well... I guess because I made the suit really bright orange.

BlackTalonArts In reply to Euskelo [2016-11-27 09:24:38 +0000 UTC]

I figured as much because I generally don't see Iray renders that looks so clean, sharp and impeccable.  Again, so envious. lol  I think you and Octane work beautifully together.
