ZOMG! Silver's entrance in the first panel! My first thought was: "Looks like someone just prodded the sleeping lion

I gotta say the blank stare in their eyes during the chant really gives a feeling of "setting the stage" somehow; I would have said "silence before the storm," but I don't think they're quite there yet, not with the rumbling going about... 
Since the world probably wont get shattered in this chapter, I'm guessing some equivalent sacrifice will be in order, probably Sonic is my guess from seeing the chapter cover.
Poor Silver, all he wanted was some bonding time with his family, so he could mope about Blaze and be away from all the weirdness for a while. But does anyone listen? Nooooooo~ something just HAD to go wrong... it's times like this he should have ignored the noise and just stayed in bed! >XD

Hokay. On page 7 ( [link] ) Sonic explains that he needs to perform a ritual sacrifice in order to appease Gaia to avoid a repeat of the events in Sonic Unleashed. Also, he must do this ritual tonight. Flash forward to page 15, where Silver discovers Sonic and Shadow doing the ritual in the backyard. It turns out the "sacrifice" is only an ice cream cone, but whatever manifestation of Gaia Sonic is calling on seems a bit more dangerous.
