This is a screen-shot from a video I found on YouTube-

-and it gives me and many other Evangelion fans a relief of sorts after 15 years: the pleasure of seeing Evangelion Unit-Four animated at last!!!
The video is seen in-game on a Japanese pachinko machine created in 2008 to coincide with the theatrical release of "Evangelion: 1.0- You Are (Not) Alone". While Unit-04 was never seen on-screen, this makes the first and only authorized & official appearance of my namesake, but it is obviously non-canon!

Eva-04 is shown in the teaser trailer for Evangelion 2.0 at the end of Evangelion 1.0: You Are (Not) Alone. A caption flashes up, listing Eva-04's presence, followed by a large red explosion. This would suggest that it will suffer the same fate as in the television version.

I know the Unit 00, 01,02, 03, 05 and 06. Is this the Evangelion who disappeared during a mysterious explosion ? And why he is here VS Ramiel?

Yes, this is the EVA that disappeared in Episode 17, and in "Evangelion: 2.0- You Can (Not) Advance" (2009).
I don't know why it's here VS Ramiel, but... who cares!? It was an wesome video, and Unit-04 got animated!

My animosity for Unit 04 is partially due to 2 things:
1: I was a big fan of the model kits, and when I saw this one I was confused because we had never seen it, and it was just a remold/recolor of Unit 03, and I felt that they were being lazy by just recoloring unit 03 instead of making the unit different from the others in it's actual sculpt. I felt the model makers thought I was too stupid to realize it was the same kit as unit 03.
2: I color scheme just doesn't rock my world. The others have a great graphic quality to them with bright colors contrasted with black, so they just 'pop'. And to be fair, Unit 01, with it's purple,black and neon green is such an 80's color scheme it's practically embarrassing.
I don't feel unit 04 has enough contrast between the red and the silver. Their value is so matched that the whole unit evens out instead of being as dynamic in color than the others.
The silver is bright and shiny, and the red draws my attention to it...but to what? The highlights of red draw my eyes to little areas that aren't really exciting to me, and in the end I feel the value of both colors conflicts too much.
Even in the animation there, the palms are bright red, and I want to look at the face but all I can see is RED PALM!
I like the black arms against the silver, and I think they should have done more of the unit like that, like making the fins and perhaps the knee pads black. It wouldn't have been bad painted light gray or white either. I do like the updated Rebuild color scheme...(except for those palms!)
I have not given up on unit 04, it just had to prove itself, because existing only as a mushroom cloud and a giant glowing cross wasn't enough to get me on it's team. But, now that Unit 04 has been given a little screen time, and I've seen it kick some ass, I'm willing to accept it as more than something that was lazily slapped together for a quick buck.

I felt most of that too when I first saw Unit-04 in a Hobby Japan magazine in 1996, and thought it a customized Unit-03 that a modeler had made.
However, upon further research, it turns out that the official description from Gainax is that Unit-04 is indeed identical in appearance to Unit-03, save for coloring, regularly having a Dummy Plug, & S2 Engine.
14 years later and armed with more money, and Anno still didn't officially show us Unit-04. That 
The question now is: Will we ever get official Rebuild models and figures of Unit-04...?

I like how they were able to convert the footage of Ramiel from night (as seen in the movie) to day so seamlessly.
Notice, also, that Unit-04 now has the updated Rebuild color scheme...?
