uhh as for what i feel i improved on
everything

(ohh boy small essay here)

- my colours
- form
- style
- texture

i'm much more aware of my colours. its not so random, and not just overall. I'm much more aware of the colours in the undertone of the skin, which i feel makes my drawings more alive. i've noticed before i've put them in my drawings look dull and lifeless. theres more harmony

my form. compare my noses. the Before one is so flat, it looks squished. the chin seems to be one with the neck, with a large black blob separating the two. everything looks so flat.
my After, well not great (that neck thing is awful like a large blob) but it doesn't look so squished and flat. theres dimension there. i remember i was very afraid of harsh lines, i wanted to make everything smooth (and tried to make up from all that smoothness by adding layered textures), which then forced me to keep my sketch lines so i didn't loose her in blobness.

over the year, my style has come out. it looks more half decent. not there yet, theres always room for improvement. but i feel like its more sharp, crisp. uhh such things as my hair is looking more like something from a shampoo commercial (kinda, still needs improving) than something that's been nuked by hairspray. i think this has come through by looking more at old masters, studying from them, looking at their styles and trying to build from that

my texture in Before is over done. a lot. as i said before hand, i was innocent to how much texture i was using, and felt i needed it, and a lot of it. my art teacher had hammered into me the importance of texture, so i would use all these harsh brushes to paint AND blend, thinking the more i had, the better my drawings would be. it was over kill, and i think i'm better. my texture is now some what limited. i dont add any layered textures, but now only leave it to my strokes. atm i dont know if this is a good thing or bad thing. i would like to work in more..well work less more, not blend everything out as much as i do, but i feel like i'm getting there.
