That's awesome! I'm thinking of doing a Rumpelstiltskin costume, but was wondering, how do you get the "square" effect on the waistcoat, and the other effect on the brown part of the coat...the croc like part... awesome costumes by the way

Hi! Thanks so much! The vest is actually laser cut leather. My husband designed the file and we sent it in to a friend and had them cut it out for us onto apparel weight (about 4oz) cow hide. The "croc" looking part on the jacket is actually 2 croc hides that have been cut, stripped and re dyed and then sewn together with the tails laying over the chest. This costume was super intense and really interesting to make but difficult to wear with the hair and makeup and leggings and so many layers lol! I'm actually making his new version from season 3 which basically this costume but all black and no hair or makeup, which is a big yay for my husband hahahah!

Thanks for the response and in depth explanation! So you used real croc skin?! Yikes...don't think I'll find any of that easily...or cheap! I'm sure I can replicate it somehow... I'm in no rush to make the costume, so it's all good. haha loads of layers...I know all about that..it's never good in a warm room!

How long did it take him to get that makeup on?

Ooooof....lol.....It takes about 2-3 hours to get into the entire outfit with hair and makeup. It's one of the reasons he's sort of done doing this costume lol. He's very patient with the costumes I put him in but he really isn't a fan of the extreme makeup.

Wow! That's incredible. I don't think I would have that kind of patience for that kind of thing. I guess he kinda went through what Bobby Carlyle has to go through every time he dons the character. It's worth it though! This is such a cute pic and the amount of effort that went into it just ties it all together.

OOf....you'd be surprised hahaha! We actually got near the cast when they did the signing on the convention floor and the actress who plays Emma saw our Rumple and he was also able to get Emelie to see him briefly and she told those next to her "Look, Rumple is here! It's Rumple!" But we didn't make it for the panel and Robert Carlyle wasn't at the signing so that was bumming. We reallllllllly wanted to get a chance at signatures but you had to get there at 6am to line up and attempt to "win" tickets to get signatures. Da well....it was just as cool getting to see them like that briefly. The thing that sucked though is there were really really mean and rude "con guards" there that were yelling at everyone to keep moving and just up and getting in your face and while my Rumple was able to get to the front area I just couldn't because of my dress and I kept getting pushed back so none of them saw me in my costume. Perhaps one day hahaha! Maybe eventually one of our photos will get spotted.
