I tried my hand at a grey on tan paper, and I loved how it worked out! I think it's much easier to color a grey with colored paper since you can more easily see where your dapples are supposed to be going.

Rhythmic snorts started out the soundtrack of the cross country course. Revvie fought a little bit on the way to the first fence, but sailed over it easily, beginning what would no doubt be a tough course. There was a lot of light to dark and weird shadows all over the course because of the trees, but Revvie was doing his best to focus. Now and then he'd shy to the side a step or two, but with a small correction from his rider he was kept on track.

"5, 4, 3, 2, 1," Amelia counted down to the takeoff spot she saw so far away and pushed to grab. It's always better to push to get a spot on cross country than to hold for one. If the you miss on a long spot, the horse will forgive you, but if you miss on a short spot, it's harder for the horse to get up and over and forgive on the next fence. Amelia smiled as Revvie adjusted for her and lengthened his stride to take off exactly where Amelia had asked. Revvie was such a good boy, eating up the course like he was starving, hungry for bigger and harder fences.
