Description
This is another illustrated scene from the rp going on between Ellsworth-Toohey and I. The basic context for this is that the demon cat Willow made from herself that I included in the previous deviation I did involving Ellsworth's and I's rp. ((who's now named Nicolae, btw)) wants to become his own person. In other words, completely separated from Willow-since she's the one who made him. In order to do this, the group, ((Ellsworth's version of Cell, along with her human oc Yuki, and angel oc Afiel need to seek out three things. One, the most beautiful of flowers; two, the most disgusting of bugs; and three, the ashes from a dying black flame. ((They're all requirements for the ritual they need to perform to free Nicolae.))
For the first item, the most beautiful rose, they needed to travel to a cemetery in order to find-a cemetery which Willow knew well due to her constant visits to the ghosts residing there in her free time; one of which being a poor forgotten ghost calling herself Evanescence (who no longer even remembers her own name or life)). The rose, fabled to be only grow upon the grave of this girl, is what they will try to get from here. As of the moment where the rp excerpt begins, they're just about to enter the gravesite:
Here's the raw text, for those who're really curious as to how exactly this went down~ ((Warning: Ellsworth's writing style and mine are a little different, so it might be a bit confusing.))
_____________
*Cell scoffs at the idea of ghostly possession, turning away in disgust as though the subject is too beneath him to talk about. Yuki, on the other hand, is flipping out* ”Oh my GOSH! I saw something like this on Ghost Adventures I swear I did! The little floating orbs go into their necks and then their personalities get weird and…”
*as Yuki reviews over what she thinks she knows about "real" ghosts, Afiel sighs wistfully as he ponders on Willow and Nicolae's words* “I suppose I don't get to roleplay as a human after all... though this is a bit more in my area of expertise than the usual "adventures" I'm invited along for. So. A beautiful rose, a graveyard, and a forgotten child... There are many lonely spirits who expend their energies growing brilliant floral displays around their tombstones - usually an effort to attract visitors to ease their sorrows. But there are always a few cases of an abandoned child so loved by a God or a prophet that their tears will cause some miraculous beauty upon the child's resting site. There are many places that fit the description of this "mystical moonlight rose". But…” *he looks fondly down at Willow as a glimmer of amusement flashes through his eyes* “You already seem to have some favored spot in mind, I'm assuming?”
------------------------------------------------
Willow nodded eagerly as she gestured for him to come closer, her deadened eyes alight with excitement. "It's not far from here, actually. It's called the EverFall Cemetery. There's a young girl's spirit that resides there that I constantly speak with when I'm not too busy. She calls herself Evanescence...as she can no longer remember her own name...and she's warned me many a time not to tread too close to her grave. She claims to have a something very special upon it-and while I'm blind and have respected her enough to not attempt to feel out what mysterious item she has placed upon it...I do believe it that it might just match our descriptions. The poor girl is bound to the place unfortunately-and froze to death near a lake from what I understand. She no longer remembers when she died or what she was like in life...but I can safely say that she's quite friendly once you get to know her. Granted, I've never seen her physical appearance if she possesses one-thus I cannot assure you that she looks normal and isn't gruesome to behold."
------------------------------------------------
“My dear Willow, just as I've never encountered a gruesome soul, neither have I met a gruesome spirit. I can't imagine reeling back at the sight of the child.” *he chuckles softly and shakes his head* “I'm sure Yuki would never insult someone's appearance either, but... hopefully Cell won't wind up offending the poor girl. I'm sure he has more composure than that.” *with that last sentence, he shoots a stern glare of warning at Cell, who only sneers at him and gives him no assurance either way* “...I'd hope he has more composure than that. As for getting the rose itself, it will be no easy feat - spirits tend to closely bond with what little earthly items they acquire, sometimes to the point where the item that gives them so much joy is the same item that binds them to this realm.”
*Yuki interrupts the two, chiming in with her vast knowledge of pop culture* “You salt and burn the remains to free the ghost, and then you get the item. Supernatural 101! We'll be in and out in like five minutes.” *she gives the two a cheery grin and a thumbs up*
*at Yuki's little "idea", Afiel tsks disapprovingly* “Not everything is as it is on television shows. But... I cannot, in good conscience, leave a suffering spirit without attempting to free her from her bonds. Whether she accepts my help or retaliates in anger is an entirely different story however.” *his gaze settles back to Willow* “So you say this place is not far? I wonder why Samuel said we'd need my aide to get there... curious.”
-------------------------------------------------
Willow smiled slightly with a shrug as she leaned against Afiel, before giving Cell an utterly serious look, “Look Cell, I know you try to act tough and all by acting like a jerk, but a dead girl’s not going to be impressed or amused. If anything-she might just become a spiteful spirit towards you, as there’s nothing worse for a ghost than an impassive person who insults them. If there’s one thing you don’t want on your tail-it’s a vengeful spirit. Because they will haunt you till you either go insane, cry, or both.”
With that, she turns her attention back to Afiel, “Perhaps your presence will be a factor in all of this?” With that, she gestures for the others to follow her. “Come along people! The cemetery is in the center of the woods not too far from here. It’s been there since the early 1700s, and it’s a historical landmark- so PLEASE, and I repeat, PLEASE be respectful and mindful of the many who rest there.”
----------------------------------------------------
*as they set off for the cemetery, Afiel keeps the pace alongside Willow, silently looking down at her with an innocent delight as she holds on to his arm. He glances over his shoulder at the other three behind him, as though he were making sure they were far enough away not to intrude. Sufficiently pleased that they won't be bothered, he turns his attention back to her* “So... Miss Willow... since we seem to be ignored by the others at the moment, perhaps you could tell me more about yourself? Your interests, and things of that nature. Perhaps we'll have more in common than the dualities of our souls and the effective tactics we use to deflate our arrogant friend back there. ...unless you'd prefer a silent peace, in which case I apologize.”
*Yuki holds Nicolae in her arms as she discusses ghost possession with Cell, who refuses to believe they exist regardless of what she tells him* “Hey Nicolae, I'm right aren't I? Ghosts can possess people? But they can't kill people, right? We're not actually in danger here, are we?”
*she bites at her lip nervously, her earlier spunk gone as the weight of reality slowly seeps into her mind*
------------------------------------------------------
Willow smiles as she looks to Afiel. "I enjoy the peace and quiet of the forests, the feeling of morning dew upon my shell, the smell of cooking ham..."
A peaceful look came about her face as she tilted her head upward, "The warmth of the sun upon my frigid shell, the laughter of my friends, the embraces of those I care for, and most importantly...the sense of knowing that I've got those who care about me."
She grinned up at Afiel as she squeezed his hand, "It's the simple pleasures of life, really.... How about you, Afiel?"
~~~
Nicolae smiles earnestly as he curls his tail around her in some attempt to comfort her. "Fear not, m'lady....true ghosts cannot physically harm you... You're thinking of poltergeists and vengeful spirits."
-----------------------------------------------------
*Afiel closes his eyes as he listens, calling to mind each sensation she speaks of with a growing smile. He continues to regard her in silence for a moment, enjoying the waves of contentment radiating from her* “It seems you certainly know how to truly enjoy the world, in ways others could never imagine. It's a bit of a humiliating thing to admit, but before I fell I didn't take much interest or find much beauty in anything. All the things you enjoy are only things I learned to enjoy once I became mortal. I spent a lot of time finding solace in nature, and still do. The most calming moments in my existence were given to me far out in the middle of some little-known woodlands at my little hermitage I called a church... waking up to the call of birds, the crisp cool air and the muffled crunches beneath my feet during walks through the snow, hot chocolate made from scratch, that smell of soil from a freshly-planted flower garden…”
*he gazes out ahead of them, his eyes distant for a moment as he recollects his past experiences* “I'm sure most of that you know already from the memories of mortality I shared with you earlier. But... I still enjoy them. When I'm not at my post or with my friends here, I travel through the natural world, seeking out places untouched by man and reveling in the many emotions such primordial beauty causes within me.”
*with a happy sigh, he shifts his gaze back to Willow, enchanted by the peaceful look that seems to bring life to her eyes* “...sight is of no importance in those places - your senses would be overwhelmed regardless. And as I've said before, if you would give me to honor of showing them to you in the future, it would make me very happy.”
*Yuki is a little calmed by Nicolae's words, but as Cell attempts to "logically" explain to Yuki why ghosts can't exist, she finally takes notice of the two further out ahead of them. A huge grin spreads across her face as she watches them walk hand-in-hand, happily gazing at each other. She elbows Cell in the side and motions towards them, whispering to him and Nicolae* “You just know that's going to lead to something adorably awkward.”
*Cell scoffs in disgust, electing to trek the rest of the way in silence*
-----------------------------
Willow smiled at Afiel's words and stores them in her mind for later recollection before turning her attention to the present as she at last approached the wrought-iron gates.
The place seemed to emanate a haunting aura as the speckled light from the canopy of towering pine trees overhead lent a mystical feeling to the place, a thick mist that was spilling from the cemetery grounds being caught and illuminated in the narrow beams of light.
Willow smiled as she approached, using a bit of her demonic strength to wrench open the rusted gates as she made her way inside, stirring up the mist which swirled around her. Her voice was quiet as she motioned for Afiel and the others to follow.
From there, she allowed her memory to guide her throughout the gloomy place, her smile as brilliant as ever as she gestured towards Afiel. "I'd like you to take me to your church, sometime~" She whispered to him before turning to the others.
"Alright everyone, please be respectful and most importantly, CALM. If I died a horrible death, I wouldn't want someone cracking jokes or goofing around. "
----------------------------
*as Afiel passes through the iron gates, he allows himself to hover a few inches off the ground, electing not to tread upon unknown spiritual ground out of quiet reverence. He pauses at the entrance and an inner glow flashes through his eyes as he scans the area. He observes the tombstones carefully, letting his gaze linger over a few specific ones that seem to catch some interest in him* “There is indeed spiritual turmoil here, but I wouldn't call it... unholy. There is loneliness, confusion, and anger in this place.” *a small smile graces his face for a brief moment* “But there is also a beauty. With proper respect, many of the souls here can be considered friends.”
*he looks over his shoulder at Yuki and Cell, his expression stern* “Realize that with great turmoil comes danger. Heed Miss Willow's words carefully. Most spirits aren't deadly, but they can wreak havoc on your mental health. Don't touch the tombstones.” *with that last warning, he faces the front and floats after Willow*
“O-okay…” *Yuki takes a few steps in timidly, instinctively moving closer to Cell as they walk forward, the strange energies of the area causing her some uneasiness* “This really isn't like it is in the TV shows... but at least we're out here during the day.”
“Oh? Your asinine shows are fake?” *Cell scoffs* “A shocking discovery.”
--------------------------
With Cell's scoff, came a sudden sharp gust of cold wind that smacked against his face - sending a shiver coursing down his spine as a faint imprint of a hand left itself upon his cheek.
Nicolae snorted at this before turning his eyes to Yuki. "Can't even follow directions for a total of 5 seconds, how predictable. What part of "show respect" didn't you understand?"
Willow said nothing in acknowledgment to the paranormal event that just occurred as she continued to follow her demonic sight, allowing it to lead her through twisting paths of tombstones new and old. She sighed as she at last came upon an unmarked tomb settled just on the outskirts of the grave site-located underneath a weeping willow of all things, a lake glittering just beyond the graveyard's edge as an impossible breeze rustled the hanging leaves.
Willow was oblivious to the evident LACK of flower that was present on the grave though as she approached, giving a soft sigh as she gestured to the tomb, "Give me a second..."
With that, Willow knelt down beside the edge of the tombstone and whispered something to the weathered stone that was unintelligible to the rest of the group. A moment more passed before Willow stood up, giving a respectful nod to the stone as she looked back to the group. "She's here."
It was noticeable that as she said this, another cold wind swept through the group...and a small distorted girl’s voice whispered. "You brought me more friends, yes?"
------------------------------
*Cell lifts up his hand and rubs it against his stinging cheek. He glares at Nicolae in disbelief* “How dare you slap me in some silly effort to make me believe in this nonsense! And throwing your voice, what a foolish--”
*he is cut off as Afiel's stern words echo in his mind, unheard by anyone else* “Continue your rude actions and I will not help you should misfortune befall you.” *the threat seems to visibly calm Cell down a bit, but he continues to brood. Yuki, on the other hand, moves away from him in disgust and stands closer to the angel, not wanting any part of whatever might happen to her stubborn husband*
*at the revelation that no rose grows on the grave, Afiel seems wholly unaffected. His eyes remain distant and wistful as he enjoys the scenery, only broken from his trance by the small voice. With a smile, he turns to the tombstone and bows slightly, but stays silent, preferring to only speak after being introduced out of politeness*
---------------------------------------
The voice begins again with a little giggle, "I don't get company very often, yes... So it's very pleasant to see so many living at once."
As the voice continues, the winds flow and suddenly an invisible grabs Cell's own and pulls him forwards...towards the lake...
"You don't believe in me, yes...", the voice murmurs softly with what could be interpreted as quiet rage as the force continues to push him forwards with seemingly no effort at all. Just as Cell nears the lake's edge- the force on him abruptly stops, leaving him mere feet away from the rippling water.
Willow breathes a sigh before gesturing for the other three to follow her down to the water's edge. Slowly, as everyone stops short of the lake-a reflection belonging to none of them becomes visible within the rippling waters.
It is one of a girl who appears to be trapped just underneath the glassy surface of the lake. Her skin is a pale blue and cracked, with her most prominent facial feature being that of large glassy grey eyes that bore into each of their souls. Frost coats her eyelashes as she stares unblinkingly up at the group. From the top-down view, she appears to be wearing nothing more than a flimsy nightgown which flows freely about her as though she were actually affected by the underwater current. Her long albino-grey hair flows about her in a similar manner as she brings a blue finger to point upwards, her eyes zeroing in on Cell's. "You believe in me now, yes?"
--------------
*Cell stammers as he backs up further away from the water and the strange girl, a little disturbed over the new revelation*
Would you like to Rp?
Or do you only do it with people you know for a long time?
Honestly, it all depends on the fandom and whatnot for me. As of now, I'm completely obsessed with DBZ...so I'd be most comfortable rping in a DBZ verse.
Ocs are fine, though! For the two main peeps I rp with in regards to DBZ, SirArceon and Ellsworth-Toohey, we pretty much hit it right off without even knowing one another that well! So my length of time spent knowing a person isn't really a factor.
