Description I made this tutorial as I was making the image below, so this is my final product:


Due to noticing that many people rely simply on the "eraser" tool to extract subjects from photos, I decided to show people how to use layer masks to help out!

Please note:
This tutorial is not ideal for subjects with flowing hair, as this makes extraction with this method almost unbearable.

Also, keep in mind there are many different methods of extraction. I prefer this method most of the time due to the precision and control you maintain over your image as you work on it.


Please let me know of any suggestions, complaints, typos, ect.

Also, any feedback if you use this tutorial would be appreciated, and may motivate me to make more tutorials in the future!

Help!
So, for some reason, after I do the erasing part, it won't let me create a new layer mask? The "layer mask" option is greyed out, and I can't click on it. Why?
