The weather does effect radio waves to an extent.
I have a few armature radio buddies and they can contact people further away on clear nights.

Yup, I know that. I'm not certain, but signal can be mirrored to some extent from outer atmospheric dome. Still remember as a kid, We were in one cottage high on the mountains, and we managed to listen some New york radio onΒ AM wavelengths. Decades ago. Nowadays the interference is way too intense.
