I got the initial idea from with all of her anatomy study....things....X'33 It's quite a useful thing to do, to break it down and everything C:But yes~ This is why I posted that journal asking for you guys to pick a pokemon and one of its evo's or whatever~ ^^ As it says in the picture, it's to help me better myself as an artist...and I think I've gotten to a good style for drawing Riolu's that close enough to the real one without having to trace it all the time XDD
I did use a few pictures from the anime for references, for the crouching body positions C:
The first picture IS obviously traced, and the original picture is by Ken sugimori ^^
The next part, Lucario anatomy study, is coming up next~ ^^

Firstly the some of these toes..are..uhm..(I don;t really know how to explain)..squarish? I guess they need to have more of a round edge. LolIfailatcritisising
Secondly, I think the ears on some are too short (However, it makes them cute, too)
and lastly, that aura sphere pose is..well, no offence, making Riolu looks like he's falling. I'm going to be very suprised if you take notice of this: [link]

haha I always draw toes looking square X'D Everybody at school makes fun of my artwork because all the toes on anything I draw are square >I
I agree with you on that one XD I'm terrible with consistency, especially size consistency 
As for the aura sphere pose, he was originally supposed to be falling-ish...perhaps I should've specified that

When I was younger I drew shapes-cats, like rectangle body, (fail) circle heads and triangle ears.
Hm, why? Somehow, I don't like photoshop that much...but I forgot why :I
