The theme of the picture reminds me of 'Miller's Crossing'.
'Nothing more foolish than a man chasin' his hat.'

Ooh, I love the expression! Shading is awesome too, really puts the focus onto his eyes and adds to the emotion.
Ah yes, the one weakness of a hat: it can be knocked of quite frequently.

I remember seeing this on tumblr; didn't you say he had been sporting chops as of late in the comics? Are these comics you've just read lately or is Hatter appearing in the new 52? I'm sorry for asking I've just only been picking up like two series and would hate to miss out on some Tetchin'.

He was in Detective Comics Annual #1 this year, also some other comic before that, I forget. I think he's only shown up a couple times so far, but I'm afraid I haven't been keeping up with the new 52 that well at all. So I'm not sure.

This reminds me of Jarvis Tech, the Mad Hatter from Batman.

He was always the saddest one, if you've read or seen his backstory in the animated series. He fell in love with a girl that did not share the same feelings for him as he had her, so he went mad.
I wish Christopher Nolan would have made him a villain in the new Batman's. I think he could have been done in a realistic way.
I think my favorite villains include The Scarecrow, Riddler, Joker and Mad Hatter.

I was actually desperately hoping Nolan wouldn't do Hatter.
I love TAS Hatter's backstory, he's much sweeter that way.
I think if Nolan had gotten his hands on him he'd have gone the much creepier and more sinister pedo!Hatter route.

Nah. They could have done the same story with Jervis Tech in the animated series. Maybe made it interesting. He could have been working for Bruce Wayne in the microtechnology department and fallen in love with Batman's love interest, but developed a hatred for Bruce Wayne (his boss) when he realizes this. He snaps, and rediscovers the cell phone sonar machine under Wayne Enterprises (used to find Joker in TDK) and converts it into a machine that taints every cell phone in Gotham. People's minds are affected by the sound waves, and begin to see his programmed, twisted "wonderland".
