I have grown up with Star Wars, my earliest memories of seeing movies are Star Wars memories. My best friend ( ~ thedazzler ) is an absolute Star Wars nut!
As for what Lucas has done with the transfer to DVD, well, I understand some of the reasons for what he's done (ie continuity with EP 1,2 & 3) but I am still annoyed that he makes Greedo shoot first!

Yeah, what was the deal with the Greedo/bar scene? He should have just let that alone. And I didn't like the part where he put Jabba and Han Solo in the deleted hangar scene where Han promises to pay him back. It just took away from the plot.

I think Lucas has just gone effects crazy. He's obsessed with again being the leader in the effects field. Hence episodes 1 and 2 being heavy on effects yet somehwat sparse in terms of decent storyline. Overall I think he's gone soft - he's obsessed with making everything child-friendly, but I think it has come at the cost of real story development. Anyway, I'd better stop rambling - I tend to get a bit too carried away on that topic.

Rambling is okay...besides you have some good points that I agree with. I watch I and II and I can see so many things that could be fixed. Mostly in its pace and energy. IV, V, and VI all had momentum and a great storyline.

Me too, I've been to the midnight opening session for the re-releases of the original trilogy and for ep's I and II, so I can't do any different for III.

Yeah, my brother got it as a birthday present for me. ^^ He signed both of them with his silver sharpie. I don't see him much, so both are really special to me. And I guess the average roommate wouldn't appreciate the greatness that is a Darth Vade standup. XD

Well I don't think that its like "eek, im scared," it would be more like that odd sort of thing you get when you see a poster or something, that the eyes follow you. And it would be doubly disturbing in the dark when you walk in the room, and you see the standup silhouette and you think someone is just standing there in the dorm room.

How poetic! Its true though, I felt those same feelings when I was young, and I still feel that way today. Star Wars has definately influenced me, my artwork, the way I see movies, and perhaps my entire state of mind.

It was the first movie I saw in the theatre.
I sat on my mother's lap. She didn't have to buy a ticket for me.
She said I didn't make any noise, just stared at the screen the whole time.
