Description
EDIT: I was surprised by the huge amount of favourites I was getting for this, but I think it is because of the preview image I used. This is a PDF file which may have to be downloaded to read. Not a piece of concert art. I have changed the preview image for clarity's sake.Another semi-nostalgic video game franchise from my childhood. I never have actually played a Spyro game properly, but my best friend was an avid player of both series, and my knowledge stems from him and research for this reimagining. There is a lot of potential in the series, and I took a lot of inspiration from The Legend of Spyro, which already served as a reboot of the franchise, telling a more compelling tale than the previous games. For this, I wanted to write it like a movie, mixing elements and characters together into one world.
I admit this was a bit of a struggle to write as much knowledge and understanding of the characters are limited and I don't think I really gave enough time to flesh out the characters as much as I'd like to. Spyro is torn between his newfound duty to his lineage as a dragon, but there is also that sense of a desire to be normal, putting him at odds with his brother Sparx the Dragonfly. Cynder is also an important character to the narrative, now Spyro's sister rather than a possible love interest.
Other characters like Hunter, Eliora, Zoe, and Sergeant Byrd also appear, but with the whole advanced technology stuff replaced with more medieval magic. Themes include responsibility, guilt for past actions, learning from the past, correcting mistakes, courage, compassion, and love for one's family and home.
It is such a shame that the likes of Spyro (and Crash Bandicoot) have fallen into near-obscurity, but with Crash getting a recent re-release of his classic games, maybe everyone's favourite purple dragon can as well. Anything is better than Skylanders!

I remember this pitch for a Spyro movie, I was quite impressed by it. What a shame that I didn't favorite it until now!Β

That story could be a great idea for a Spyro game, what do you think?

I wrote it as a film concept primarily, but it could also work for a game too.

Or better yet, how about both the movie and a game what do you think?

I apologise for the misunderstanding, Stefan. That picture was not of my creation, but was official artwork from the video games. I was merely using it as the preview image for my written reimagining for Spyro. Due to Deviantart's structure, my PDF can only viewed by downloading it, while the preview image appears on the page. A bit of a blunder on my part, and I apologise for the problems. The artwork can be viewed here: lph5i1b6c053kq7us26bdk75-wpengβ¦

The sky is really pretty and I like Spyro's stance: looks like a videogame hero

Wait... Spyro IS a videogame hero! The Legend of Spyro is a franchise with a lot of games.

Yeah... but they are not really Spyro games. They just used the character so people buy their games, nothing to do with the Spyro games. :/
