Description This is just an upload to show some progress shots of the piece I'm working on now. It's made from Super Sculpey. If you look close, you can see where the oven got a bit hot on the third bake or so, and scorched the back a bit. It's a good thing I paint these things, eh? Speaking of which, it's about that time.

pretty damn inspiring to see the WIP ... helps a lot also for those of us who may take a page from your book. I'm pretty stunned that there are multiple bakes! Never occurred to me to do that The texture is also so finely detailed!

I do bake them quite often, yeah. I'm clutzy enough that the baking provides extra protection to areas I'm done with while I'm working on others. Recently, I've been doing those intermediate bakes at lower temps to avoid any brittling effects, and it's been working out great.

Yeah- it does look kinda freakish at that point. Just the eyes and teeth had been formed and baked- no face over them yet.

It's actually finished now. It's the newest deviation in my gallery.

I've been finding Super Sculpey easier to work with than many other comparable clays. I like its resilience to repeated bakings, so I can work on little bits at a time without screwing up other parts. I have big hands that don't make it easy to work on a small scale.
