Once again, today is Bulma's ( ) Birthday! This is just another one of those drawings that shows how much progress I've made since I first met her. :]
I first discovered Bulma's artwork from Zeki's petpage on Neo, like everyone else.. I was browsing through the trophies from other petpages and noticed the link to Zeki's petpage. I checked it out and was so amazed with the artwork and character's design, I suddenly had an urge to draw some fan art!
I finished the drawing a couple hours later, looked at the comparison between Bulma's talent and mine, and I felt really embarrassed.. Since my sister Elise was an artist also, (and much better than me) I felt useless, but that was when I decided to draw everyday, until I noticed improvement in my drawings.
I was feeling a bit discouraged though, knowing that it would take years to be a good artist like her. Yet I was also excited, realizing that I was actually inspired to draw, all because of her artwork.
Back then I would look at somebody's drawing and not really care. I thought that drawing was just an activity that you do when you're bored or something. I never realized until now that a drawing is actually something unique. Each drawing describes the artist's personality and feelings, (well on my opinion at least) and it's something that you have to put imagination and effort into!
So I started to draw with my pencil and paper, for about 4-5 hours each day, (no joke) determined to be as good as Bulma. So in '05, on my 13th birthday, (thanks to her) I got both the Wacom Tablet and Open Canvas 4. Afterwards I drew fan art on the computer for Bulma as a thank you for the inspirations, because the only way to show my gratitude to her was by drawing. I feel like I owe so much more to her though.
I'm really happy with the improvement that I've made these past 3 or so years and I still love drawing fan art for her. I know I still have a long way to go, but I'm not discouraged about it anymore. I'm just glad that I met her before I gave up on drawing at all!
So if it wasn't for her, I would have never discovered how much fun it is to draw.

Wow, that was a long story, lol XD Now about the drawing..

If you guys look back in Zekiu's fanart gallery on Neopets, you'll find the first drawing I made for her. The second updated one is here in my gallery - but you'll have to look for it. This is the third updated version of Zeki in pencil. I was going to add Bulma in this one also, but I had no idea what she looked like at the moment - like the hair and stuff. >: Ah well.
Anyways, I've spent a about 4 hours on this. I've noticed a few mistakes that I've made, but since the picture is outlined with pen and colored with pencil, I might have to restart the drawing. I'm not saying that I don't want to - I'd happily redo the drawing to make it better, but because of school and stuff it's been difficult to find the spare time to draw.
