They did over power her a bit for the first couple of episodes. Overall, not as bad as people made her out to be.

Fans just don't like people added to the great seven (Splinter, Raph, Don, Mike, Leo, Casey, April). They throw fits everytime: Zach, Venus, Cody...It's a shame really.
Granted, when I first saw the commercials. I thought Venus was gonna be Leo's daughter and they'd have one girl per turtle. So I was happier that the guys were still teens, and Venus was just an addition to the team.

I think's its because Venus is a girl. Can't add your own fem OC if there's already one around. Cody got annoying at times because he was a bit too fanboyish, but really who wouldn't be if you grew up hearing about the turtles?
The Next Mutation definitely could have been better, and I'm sad it never got the chance to really prove itself.

It is in the UK, the first 12 (?) episodes at least, on 2 DVDs. Check out Ebay UK . They've even got a Venus action figure up there! I'm kinda tempted . . .

Well, they're region 2, (US is region 1 I think). If you've got a region free DVD player (my compy!), it should work just fine.

The only way I know Venus is through Ninjalara's fanfiction. And actually, I liked her in those fics, and this is perfectly consistent with how the characters acted in those fanfics!

I haven't read those fan fics, but I think I will! I'm about halfway through the TV show, and honestly, she doesn't have much of a personality in them ^_^;; But she is always sticking up for magic.
