Description A DNA profile for the genetically engineered Flying Foxes seen in the 1999 film: "Bats".

A. Modified skull structure resulting from Yinchiroptera and Yangchiroptera genes. Flying Fox DNA resulted in more elongate, dog-like skulls with well-developed molars. DNA from vampire bats in the Desmodontinae family resulted in extremely sharp, modified incisors.

B. DNA from multiple flying fox species (Pteropodidae), including the spectacled flying fox, the gray-headed flying fox and the Indian Flying Fox, serve as the base genome for the hybrid bats.

C. DNA from Vampire bats resulted in the ability to feed on blood, with the sharpest teeth of the animal kingdom and saliva with numbing agents being transferred into the hybrid.

D. A separately engineered modified lyssa virus was placed into these hybrid bats, allowing them to spread their traits onto any other bats encountered in the wild.

The original breeding pair were engineered from unknown flying fox species in an attempt to create a more survivable, omnivorous bat species. Genes from vampire bats and other Yangchiroptera were added to encourage an omnivorous diet in the face of changing climates. The resulting bates were extremely large and aggressive.

In addition to being carnivorous and aggressive, these bats contained a modified lyssa virus that is spread to any bite victims. This virus transmits genes from the host organism, causing any bitten bats to develop morphological  and behavioral traits more like the hybrid bats, this essentially works as a form of reproduction.
