An Idea for a character in the Horizon Zero Dawn universe.

An Eclipse soldier that, after the cult's defeat at Meridian, retreated into the Shadow Carja territory with a remnant of the invasion force. Delving into the ruins of the 21st century civilization for answers, he was able to find a suit of Shield-Weaver armor, making him seemingly invincible among his peers, and making him a near unmatched machine hunter. After killing multitudes of wild robots to hone his skills, he gained the respect and fear of his camp, and was soon made the leader.

One day his camp was attacked by a pack of Sawteeth, led by an apex variant unknown to the eclipse. While the camp's only corruptor was able to kill two of the attacking Gaia machines, it was eventually overrun and destroyed. The newly instated leader the camp fought with unparalleled ferocity, defeating the pack. After the battle, it was discovered that the black-armored variant was only stunned. Utilizing parts from the corruptor, he was able bend the machine to his will, and tame it, further cementing his legendary status amongst his kin. He took the Sawtooth as his mount and enforcer, giving it the name "The Red Pestilence".

He took components of the fallen corruptor and applied them to his armor so avoid the corruptive effects of his new steed.

While Corrupted robots, including Sawteeth are known in the lore of Horizon Zero Dawn, I wanted to take the concept further. Black-armored machines were introduced in the Comics, being a deadlier counterpart to the white-armored machines. They were created by HEPHEAESTUS to protect areas of intense hunting by humans. Corrupted robots are also deadlier than their 'natural' counterparts, so a corrupted black-armored machine would be even deadlier than Sawtooth seen before.

The Red Pestilence is incredibly aggressive, with the ability to spew volatile ooze due to its corrupted nature. It also has very durable armor, combining the black armor's improved durability with modifications by the eclipse.

There have also been reports of him leading a pack of corrupted stalkers which he uses as his personal hunting party.
