Description
When dealing with endless dimensions and countless universes, there are plenty of bizarre places to find. Worlds where the sky is solid as rock, or where the land breathes and trembles as if alive. Dimensions and realms that are beyond comprehension, born from chaos and twisted space. Of all the strange places one may travel, there is one specific realm that has gained attention from those who seek the bizarre and mutated. A labyrinthine city of outlandish design and impossible architecture. Buildings crafted from flesh and stone, moving rails of insectile appearance, and hordes of twisted creatures forever roaming its streets. It is known as Anht-Argur, but to the common tongue, it is simply called the Abominable City. A civilization made of freaks and monstrous creations, who walk its halls and ride its rails. In such a chaotic city, one would imagine that the whole place would collapse in on itself. Abominations turning on one another and the impossible architecture buckling under the weight of such fighting. A land of monsters and beasts would surely become a place of bloodshed and violence, yet the city lives in something resembling peace. What holds this whole warped city together is the De-Evolution Monolith, the ruler and deity of Anht-Argur. A strange entity made of flesh, stone and mask, who watches over the Abominable City. It can be found in its massive temple, where it floats on high to watch all in its domain. Normally, many would find such a being frightening, but word has traveled that it is not one of malice. Though it births and mutates new monsters and abominations to populate its city, it means no ill will to those who enter its city in peace. It simply will watch them as they navigate the mangled streets and buildings, keeping an eye out for any violence or insult towards its people. As long as one minds themselves and avoids certain monstrosities, they shall be able to travel without major injury.Though it is quite the nightmarish place at times, people have indeed traveled to this strange city. What draws these few is the expansive archives that stretch throughout the city. A endless amount of tomes, scrolls and slabs that exist in halls that burrow through the entire realm. Those interested in research and study could find an infinite amount of knowledge within this archive, but that is only if they have the proper guide. While it boasts a massive amount of information, the grand archives can be dangerous maze that newcomers could easily become lost in. Those who wander in alone may find themselves hopelessly lost, trapped by books and impossible architecture. These are merely defensive measures to protect valuable knowledge, but it can still be accessed as long as one asks the right person. The Archiverer is one they must go to, a being bound to the archives and its endless halls. She is the one who can navigate the impossible and find a single scroll amongst a mountain of information. Those who dare to even enter the treacherous archives should consult her and ask for her aid. The horrible remains of those who ignored her can be found scattered amongst the halls, a reminder to those who walk its shelves.
Even with the endless amounts of knowledge, some have entered the Abominable City for another reason. Tale speaks of the Monolith's power, and its ability to warp and modify flesh. Some have come seeking blessings of new forms and abilities, which the Monolith can grant. The Monolith does not always fulfill the wishes of its visitors, ignoring those it does not deem worthy. Those it does answer are given the powers they wish, but at the cost of their appearance. One may finally be given the ability they wanted, but their form shall be permanently changed to a shape the Monolith sees fit. What shall come from the other end of this transformation is unknown, and the wisher cannot know if their mind will survive such horrific change. Some have been able to accept their new appearance and body, but others have been driven mad by their own flesh. Those unable to comprehend their new bodies often devolve into the very beasts that roam the city. How many of this strange city's inhabitants were born in this realm, and how many were simple visitors that doomed themselves to forever walk its monstrous streets?

This piece was made to draw up some characters KingOfWarlocks gifted me some time ago. He created these beings in his Merged Universes as a gift to me, and I just wanted to draw them up as a way to say thanks!
Hope you like it!

RYAN, YOU MADMAN! reading all of this awesome lore with the Guardian Theme from Darksiders 2 makes it all the more epic.
the pillars of teeth and gums and maggots, the silhouettes of your creations like the Vekoo, Kree-tal, the Boschean Reaper and the Alkahest Elemental on the background, and best of all: how you drew the De-evolution Monolith and the Archiver(er) are truly awesome.
honestly, i was afraid that my design for the Monolith was too simple, but you managed to make it much better. i'm not even kidding; i honestly think your version of the Monolith looks better than mine. like it fits more into your style.
and you've chosen a really nice color palette for the Archiver, and drew her just as nicely as the monolith. she looks really good, and i like the fact that she looks more like she has armor now than my original drawing of her.
this is so *swearword* cool, man. i truly love it.

A madman indeed! Thank you so much! Glad you like how it turned out. The monolith was an interesting one to draw, with all the metal spikes and framework around the central body. Figuring out colors for the Archiver was tough, but I went with colors that were found on the entity she served. I figure armor works well for one delving into the treacherous archives! This was a pretty fun one to do. I am happy that you like it!

you are very welcome! i really think it looks really amazing and again, i think the Monolith fits your style much better than mine. i am glad that you thought it was interesting to draw
yeah, i kinda had that same problem when i first drew her. i actually didn't think of giving her armor, but that change is a really nice one.
again, i'm happy (in turn) that you thought it was fun. and again, you're very welcome
