Description The pantheon of Gods that have ruled over time and space have created many monstrosities over the millennia. The great Furies that embody natural disasters, the Abyssal Legion that rose from the depths before being sent back to the world below and also the Titans, who challenged the Gods themselves. All of these creations have struck fear into the hearts of mortals and had their time of terror before being beaten or restrained by the Gods. There is one creation, though, that has never stopped bringing terror to the mortal realm. It is said that it disgusts the Gods, though it was made by their hands. It goes by many names, the Eternal Hunger, Eater of Realms, or Skorox, as the Gods call it. But the mortal world prefer to call such a monstrosity The Beast.

The Beast was brought to life after the rebellion of the Titans was crushed. The Titans were originally born to wipe every trace of the Gods of Dawn off the face of the universe. The many species and societies made by the Gods of Dawn posed a threat to the pantheon and their followers, so the Titans were made to crush them. The seven Titans had done well in their job, driving many of the Dawn species to extinction, but they failed to complete it. Their betrayal and attempts to seize control from the Gods allowed the surviving species to rebuild and replenish their numbers. And when the Titans were turned to stone and buried, the Gods had no minions to squash those that were left. Up in the domain of Ka'Ran'Koth, the Gods met to discuss how to deal with the remainders of the past Gods. Sending mortal armies to finish the job was foolish and would cost many followers. The creation of new Titans was something no one was willing to go through, especially since the betrayal was still fresh in everyone's minds. They came upon the conclusion to build a single creature, one that they could control, to finish the job. The single monster would have the tools and power to finish the eradication, but would not have others to rely on, like how the Titans did. With only one beast, the Gods could overwhelm it if it went out of line. To build this beast, every God brought a piece to contribute. The God of Dimensions gave the creature a body similar to his own, so that it could have more limbs and weapons. The Goddess of the Sea added to that by bringing the limbs of her sea creatures. The twin Gods of the Upper and Inner Earth gave it their claws and teeth, so that no mortal material could stand in its way. The God of Energy gave it the resistance to all magic, so it could not fall to spells and mana assaults. The God of the Sky gave the speed and agility of the wind itself. The God of Night gave the beast the senses of his night creatures, so nothing could hide from it. The God of Sun gave it a burning heart of fire, so that no weather or storm could ever slow it down. Ze'Rorick, God of Death, gave it the venom of his own body, so that all who were cut, bit or exposed to the creature's excretions would die a quick death. Des'Gamund, God of Mind, gave it mind dominated by eternal hunger, so that its quest for flesh and death would never cease. And at last, Ka'Ran'Koth gave the creation the power of his lightening, to give it regeneration powers of the Gods, and to bring it to life. And thus, The Beast was born.

Skorox was born with a single goal, devour all life that lay before it. The Gods had embedded commands into its brain, so that they could tell it what should or should not be eaten. This way they could spare those they deemed worthy, while letting The Beast continue its feasting. With that, the Gods sent The Beast to the mortal plane to finish the eradication of all life that began at the Dawn. The Beast did insanely well at its job. Its large size allowed it to plow through most defenses, while its many limbs allowed it to climb over whatever it couldn't crush. Its claws could slice through anything, and its teeth were capable of piercing though every substance with zero resistance. The venom that existed in every tooth, claw and secretion could kill a mortal on contact, causing death within seconds. The limbs that terminated into masses of tentacles could whip globs of this toxin at prey, spraying a shower of death. Its large, empty eye sockets were capable of both smell and hearing, so no prey could hide from its hunger. Its quick regeneration allowed it to heal from all damage in seconds. At last, the great hunger that drove it was so insatiable, that The Beast could eat literally anything. The species were devoured within months, each one falling into the hungry jaws of The Beast. Rejoicing in their success, the Gods recalled Skorox back to their plane, believing its duty to be done. But once it arrived, it attacked the Gods who created it. Though the venom was not strong enough to kill a God, it was extremely painful to them. It clawed, bit and spit at them, trying to devour the life it saw in front of it. Their attacks on the creature were devastating, but its regenerative powers prevented them from slaying it. At last the Gods wrestled it into submission and quickly made a prison to seal it up in. The hunger that drove it could not be stopped, so it had to restrained at all times. The Keeper of the End was created to keep The Beast locked away, only to be released when needed again.

Though its initial duty was completed, Skorox was used one other time on the mortal realm. A series of villages and towns along a river ceased praying to the Gods, ignoring their temples and ceasing their offerings of faith. To teach the villagers a lesson, the Gods brought a drought and dried up their river. The crops they relied on turned to dust, and then came famine. The villagers begged for forgiveness, but the Gods wanted them to suffer for their choices. They decided to let the drought last a little longer, so that such a rebellion would not happen again. But then the prayers suddenly stopped. Shocked, the Gods looked to find that the villagers had given up on them and decided to dig a new river. Working for weeks with little food, they rerouted another river to run trough their dry one. They succeeded in this quest, and rejoiced as water and food returned to their towns. But the Gods did not rejoice, they were enraged. Their punishment had been disrupted, their prayers had been taken, and so they unleashed their wrath upon the villages. The earth heaved and cracked as the Keeper sliced into his body, and released The Beast onto the populace. All weapons were useless, all defenses in vain, and hundreds died within hours. The villagers tried to flee the path of Skorox, but the Gods would not let it be so easy. To the surrounding populaces, the Gods sent a message to the priests and monks. If a village were to harbor one of the condemned, The Beast would be released onto their entire population as well. So when victims fled to their neighbors, they were met with guns and walls. No one would let them in. The others just stood by as The Beast descended onto the begging masses, devoured their flesh and turned back to find more.  On that day, the new river ran with the blood of thousands, and was from then on called The River of Sacrilege. The Beast was sent back to its prison, and the spared towns doubled their prayers and offerings for that day. No one would turn their backs on the Gods now.

Such a horrid event has forever ingrained the terror of Skorox into the brain of every living mortal. Despite the monstrosity being locked away, many still fear its hunger. It has been said that The Beast would lead to the end of the world, when its prison is shattered and nothing can hold it back. In some versions, The Beast singlehandedly devours all life in the universe, but some have it that The Beast finds a way to reproduce. The offspring would then spread to all corners of existence, feeding on all life. The Gods claim that Skorox is sterile, and no one could even imagine what would reproduce with such a ravenous being, but tellers of such tales still believe this apocalypse could occur.

Another legend talks about a tooth of The Beast that was lost in the brawl between God and creation. During the fight, it is said that Ka'Ran'Koth dealt a blow so hard, that a tooth of Skorox was knocked free and fell to the mortal plane. The tooth buried itself deep in the earth on impact, and lays in wait for someone to find it. The story says that the tip of this tooth can slice through all materials with ease, and that one must be extremely careful when handling such a deadly weapon. It is so sharp, that if dropped tip downward, it would bury itself deep into the ground, no matter the composition. The tooth still contains the venom of The Beast, so any organism cut by it would die in seconds, which can include the bearer of this weapon if they are not careful. It is unknown how true this story is, but there are many who desire this lost tooth, as they realize what a devastating weapon it would be.

Another update! This one is interesting to me, because I recall the original drawing of Skorox to be one of the toughest things for me to draw in my early days, but now this update was surprisingly easy for me. How we grow!
