They had known well in advance that this fight would not be an easy one. The entity had infested the cathedral years ago, and it had been growing in power ever since. It had enslaved the clergy and fed off those who came to worship, but that wasn't the worse part. The sprawling mural it had been birthed from was the shining jewel of the entire city, and some would even say it was world famous. People from all corners would come to this very cathedral to take in such a marvelous sight, and each of these onlookers gave it strength. It didn't enslave these tourists, it didn't need to. The constant flow day in and day out provided it with an endless amount of nourishment. With this in mind, the entity would be extremely dangerous, but that was why it needed to be destroyed. It had infected the house of the gods, and now it was gaining the strength of one.

Despite all its followers, all its strength, the beginning of its downfall came from a single bottle of ink. All they had to do was launch the splattering missile at the mural, and the entity came at them in full force. This simple act of vandalism was the greatest of sins to the vain creature, and it did not hesitate to descend from its painted throne and attack the group. The level of its abilities was made quite apparent when the cathedral around them began to change. It had amassed so much energy, that it twisted the reality of the building into its own warped kingdom. The place of worship soon transformed into an erratic battleground, and the painted entity assimilated the architecture around it to become a hulking juggernaut. Though the odds seemed impossible, they charged in to defeat this false idol. The battle was fierce, but these intruders were well equipped with dealing with this creature. The entity unleashed its rabid followers upon them, but these mindless drones were soon beaten back. When that failed, a salvo of pews was launched in hopes of crushing the heroes, but they still prevailed. The tide of the battle began to turn, and the massive idol started to falter. When they shattered its marble limbs, it collapsed in a defeated heap. It seemed the entity was at last beaten, and the group rushed in to deal the killing blow. In their haste, though, the being sprung its trap. Ivory walls and pearly gates lunged forth, and the heroes soon found themselves cut off from one another. With their power now divided, the entity was quick to whisk each away to the depths of its divine hell.

As they were scattered, one of these heroes found themselves dumped into a bizarre labyrinth. This maze was made of no stone or metal, but instead of colored glass. Every surface of this strange land was sculpted from these vibrant shards, but such beautiful colors gave no comfort. This was the world of a twisted mind, and they were intruders in its domain. They would have to be quick to escape and find the others, but this shattered maze was no easy task. The obsidian webbing and broken colors all blended together, making it impossible to discern what was what. How could one find an exit if they couldn't even tell what was a hall and what was a wall? As they dared to navigate this impossible labyrinth, they soon found they weren't the only occupants. The entity had not come to finish them off, but something else looked to take that role. Flattened beasts of rainbow shards and razor claws lurked around every corner. Despite their glimmering hide, they melted into the world around them. Thin as a pane but sharp as a blade, they would insure that this lost soul would never bother their master again.

Stalked by these fractured beasts, they must defeat this opulent labyrinth soon, lest these glassy halls be stained in other ways...

With the new year here, I had at first thought of writing something about the past year and what plans are for the future. However, I am terrible at that sort of thing, so I figured I would post something fun instead! Why not celebrate the new year with a new drawing hot off the kitchen table/table-I-do-everything-on! I am really happy with how this fella turned out, so I wanted to hurry up and post it before the dozens of other things.
