Description
A child plays in the woods, running amongst the trees and critters. But as he plays, he comes across a clearing in the woods, and sees the most beautiful sight. A pure white horse, with a mane of silver and a horn of ivory. A Unicorn. A creature of beauty and elegance. The child is filled with glee and wonder. Such a beautiful creature. He has heard tales of their powers, and how good luck comes to those who see them. The Unicorn turns and watches him, but it does not run. Fascinated, the child creeps closer, hoping that he can get close enough to pet it. With every step, he expects it to run, but it doesn't. He is close enough that he can see its beautiful blue eyes and smell its sweet breath. He reaches out his hand, reaching to touch its head. The Unicorn leans towards him... and bites down on his arm. The child screams in pain, as the Unicorn yanks the child off his feet and throws him to the ground. Before the child can get up, the Unicorn's beautiful ivory horn stabs into him and ends his life. Before the body even finishes dying, the Unicorn digs into the corpse and feasts. If another being was there to spy on the event, they would see the white horse shift and morph as it tears into the small child. Instead of a beautiful, shining horse, they would see a vile, scaly abomination that cackles at its deception. For it is not a Unicorn, but a Unicon.Unicons are terrible creatures that use deception and trickery to hunt. Similar in shape and size with the mythical Unicorn, Unicons use some kind of magic to disguise themselves as such. Be it clouding of the mind, hypnosis, illusions or shape shifting, a Unicon can make itself look exactly like a Unicorn. But the beauty and majesty is a ruse. The soft, white hide masks rough, vile green scales. The flowing mane hides the crest of bony spikes that rise from the neck. The pearly hooves are nothing more then ugly claws, attached to black, bird-like legs. The whipping tail is that of a rat's, split at the end to snare and strike. The twisted, ivory horn is a jagged spear of bone that is hooked up to venom sacs. The mouth houses terrible teeth for biting and tearing. The neck is covered in fish-like gills, and the sides have needle-like bones jutting out. All in all, the Unicon is the exact opposite of the majestic creature of legend.
Unicons prey on living flesh, and use their disguise to get close to victims. Unaware and distracted in awe, prey walks right up to the beast, believing that they are approaching a fantastic creature. But when they are close, the Unicon strikes. It can kick at them with their sharp hooves, stabbing and breaking bones. It can tear into them with their teeth, using their strong neck and jaw muscles to lift prey and pull them apart. Sometimes it uses its rat tail to knock down prey and trample them to death. Or it could use its horn to impale them and inject a lethal venom. The horn is hollow, like a snake fang, and the venom sacs shoot venom to the tip, where it is injected into prey. Prey dies painfully and quickly with this venom, and no antidote can save them. Occasionally the Unicon will continue its deception and allow to prey to mount and ride them. During the ride, the side and back spines will jab into the prey, while the rough scales rub off skin. The rider will feel the terrible pain and try to escape, but the Unicon merely tosses them off and finishes the job. After the prey is killed, Unicons will drop the disguise as they feast, and emit a horrifying cackle before and after the meal. Hide, hair and bones are all consumed, leaving nothing but a bloody stain on the ground. After its meal, it lets loose a final cackle, resumes its disguise and its hunt. It seems to enjoy its deception and amuses itself by torturing its prey and killing them in imaginative ways. If a Unicon envenomed its previous prey, most likely it will try to maul the next one to death, because where is the fun in repetition?
Unicons seem to have a preference for children and virgin women. It is unknown on how they can find them and know this, but it is obvious that they can do this with ease.
The blood of a Unicon is a swampy green and is quite acidic. Wherever the blood falls, vegetation dies. And it is rumored to smell absolutely horrible.
Unicons can be killed, but everyone who runs into them are never prepared to fight for their lives, and no one ever tries to kill them on sight. Because really, who is going to try and kill a Unicorn when they see it?
---------------------
You would not believe how goddamn proud I am of the word 'Unicon." I feel like I won everything when I came up with it. Of all puns, this is one of my greatest.
On another note, I pretty much tried to make the exact opposite of a Unicorn.
