Description Writhem is a demonic creature that is a part of a monstrous traveling band. The tales say that the members of this traveling band were once humans, travelling from town to town to spread their songs. They were also thieves as well, wooing the crowds with their musical talent, while nabbing goods from the townsfolk. During one of their heists, they stole an ancient artifact of great power (Rather unknowingly, they just stole it because it had jewels on it). To them, it was just a fancy, but strange, music box, one covered in black jewels and intricate patterns. Little did they know that they had stolen the Cantatio Daemonum, the music box of The Voices. As they examined their latest treasure, one of them opened it and unleashed The Voices within. When the four Voices asked them for their wish, they huddled together to discuss their wish. Currently pursued by the authorities, and enjoying their life of crime and music, they decided that they wished to be able to do this forever, foolishly believing that this would give them immortality and special powers. But their naivety of the way of the Voices turned against them, and the first thing that happened was the whole band's untimely demise. Upon death, their sinful souls were sent to Hell, were they writhed and burned in its eternal fire. But just as they entered the black jaws of the underworld, The Voices pulled them out. With a combination of hellish torture and the vile singing of the Voices, their bodies were warped and twisted into their current forms. With their mortal bodies destroyed, and their eternal essences shaped into these creatures, they could live out eternity singing, playing and stealing the souls of those they meet.

Writhem is a member of the traveling band, yet he was not originally in it when they were human. The band of thieves and musicians only had six members before The Voices twisted them, Writhem appeared after that. Where he came from, or who made him is unknown, as the band acts like he has always been there. Unlike the others, he has no flesh, instead is made of metal and gears. A theory is that he was made by The Voices to keep the band in check and focused on their eternal duty. Others say Malstro built him to keep the band on tempo, yet Malstro has never admitted to this feat. Regardless, Writhem is part of the band, no matter when he joined.

Wirthem is responsible for keeping the tempo of the band, talking and ticking with the beat that he sets. When keeping a tempo, his forearms move back and forth, ticking and tocking like a clock. His "head" is not connected to his shoulders, instead it is on a long neck bar that connects to his waist. During powerful symphonies, he uses his head and neck as a pendulum, swinging in time with his arms as he keeps the haunting rhythm. His tempo-focused movements can entrance prey, but his true ability is worse. By using his head as a metronome, he forces organisms to move and act with his set tempo. Those affected can only move, talk or breath with his tempo, and any offbeat acts will simply not work. This turns skilled enemies into clunky novices, who try to get their bodies to react with the rhythm. Those with bad timing can actually asphyxiate if they cannot time their breathing correctly. Those who can survive this spell, can easily be cut down by his blade covered body. As a keeper of tempo, Writhem is very strict and precise, his own movements reflecting his own internal beat. He is easily angered by those who miss a beat and those who are uncoordinated. As a member of the team, he is perhaps the most violent and unmerciful (But to be honest, everyone else is still pretty evil). Enraged by those who have bad timing, he can fly into a fury that reduces men to piles of shredded meat. Even those who are unaffected by the band's music are seen as a threat to him, with him even suggesting at one point that they slit the throat of a deaf girl just because "that's the way it all works."
