thanks. Will you ever translate it?

Evolvana In reply to TGFWritter [2011-10-05 11:25:39 +0000 UTC]

As it's an original story and not colored, people here on DA don't look at it very much, so I don't know :/

I would love to see it translated. People love your work already, and I agree with TGF that you should do it for those who already like it.

TGFWritter In reply to Evolvana [2011-10-05 15:19:26 +0000 UTC]

It's advisable you do. Even if it's not seen much, leaving those who started reading it in a suspense indefinitely seems just cruel.

I personally think you should care less about the views, and more about those that already view you.

Evolvana In reply to TGFWritter [2011-10-05 15:35:44 +0000 UTC]

Maybe I'll put a ink in a journal then, but the pages won't be translated, it's a lot of work...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TGFWritter In reply to Evolvana [2011-10-05 15:42:00 +0000 UTC]

Not really. If you'd like, I could actually help you out. Just send me a script with the translation and I can edit the images to replace the old text with the new one.

At the speed I usually do it, I'm guessing it'd take me only a couple hours to do ten pages.

If you're interested, send me a note with your e-mail so we can discuss further details.

The buildup in all of these pages was so gradual and effective, that this page has the same weight and feel of a great cliffhanger, even without the sense of peril.

Looking forward to what happens next!!!

Well, take all the time you need, especially if they're anything like what you've posted so far. I'm sure it will be well worth the wait!

On my end, I still haven't finalized my scripts.

Evolvana In reply to Variable-Edge [2010-03-08 08:31:42 +0000 UTC]

Yeah it's hard to draw without a scanner and while travelling

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Variable-Edge In reply to Evolvana [2010-03-08 09:22:21 +0000 UTC]

I've got a bag that contains paper, references (comics and such), a smaller case for my pens and pencils, and a kitchen chopping board that I bought specifically for a drawing surface (plus it keeps my paper and other references from being folded or bent while I walk and such). That pretty much allows me to sketch whenever I feel like it (hence the "dinner series" I have in my gallery ;D).

It's cool to hear that you've been traveling, though. Which places have you been to?

Evolvana In reply to Variable-Edge [2010-03-09 06:54:50 +0000 UTC]

Today I'm in Auckland, in New zealand tomorrow I go to Paihia!

But the library is closing, I have to go

Variable-Edge In reply to Evolvana [2010-03-09 08:36:57 +0000 UTC]

New Zealand? That's practically next door to the Philippines!

Well, actually more like down the street, round the corner and past the 7-11 in international travel terms.

Hope you're enjoying your trip so far. Too bad I didn't get to reply before you left the library, as I'm actually swamped with work today!

Evolvana In reply to Variable-Edge [2010-03-11 06:34:22 +0000 UTC]

I have internet again, at last! but here the amount of download is controlled, so I cannot watch a lot of drawings on DA, because most of them are quite "heavy"!

yeah the Phillipines are not far! did you go to NZ, or Japan?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Variable-Edge In reply to Evolvana [2010-03-11 07:25:49 +0000 UTC]

Well, I've lived here and in the US, and I did take a trip to China a few years back. Other than that, my experience with the rest of the world's cultures has to come from the Discovery Travel and Living channel.

But I got to see the Great Wall on that trip, and it was breathtaking! Literally. I mean, the air was already really cold by that time of the year, and suffice to say, there were a lot of steps. Fortunately, we didn't have to climb up, but those in my tour group who didn't want to climb on foot, they had a contraption that took you partway up the wall, which was pretty scary.

Imagine, if you will, sitting on something that's a little more than a tray with handlebars, and riding up an incline that's reminiscent of a trip up a roller coaster! And after we were done there, we took the same way down... the track loops back down, and you have to apply brakes with the handlebars to slow your ride on the way down!

I'd love a chance to go to either NZ or Japan (Middle-Earth or anime shops? Middle-Earth or anime shops? Hard to choose! ). Shame to hear that your internet access is rather limited where you are, though. Is that just because of the local internet service, or is it a wider range of censorship?

Evolvana In reply to Variable-Edge [2010-03-11 09:17:16 +0000 UTC]

in NZ in general the internet connexion is not very good

I'd love to go to China too, it looks like a beautiful country

But I'd like to go to Peru, too and see the Machu picchu!

Variable-Edge In reply to Evolvana [2010-03-11 09:32:12 +0000 UTC]

I'd really like to be able to travel and just soak in inspiration wherever I go, not to mention get to taste some interesting food!

Then again, we have our own share of "exotic" food here in the Philippines, though I'm not in any rush to try some of those!

I miss french food, and japanese food! I'm a big fan of sushis

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Variable-Edge In reply to Evolvana [2010-03-12 00:29:58 +0000 UTC]

One of my regrets is that I've yet to try anything that is traditionally French (have any recommendations I could look for?), but I'm also a huge sushi fan. Especially if it comes with good, strong wasabi!

Ahem.

My particular favorites include salmon and uni (sea urchin roe). To tell the truth though, I've yet to taste sushi I didn't end up liking!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Evolvana In reply to Variable-Edge [2010-03-12 06:20:53 +0000 UTC]

Aaah I hate wasabi, too strong for me! I prefer the natural taste of the rice and the fish

never tried urchin! but I loved the maguro (red tuna)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Variable-Edge In reply to Evolvana [2010-03-12 08:58:18 +0000 UTC]

Maguro's classic. It was the first kind of sushi I've ever tried!

Wasabi's too strong for you? Then it would be perfect if we ever got to hang out and visit a sushi restaurant-- more wasabi for me! xD

Actually, I also like the natural taste without any wasabi or soy sauce. I'm the only one in my family willing to eat sushi and sashimi straight up, and I always set aside a few pieces to eat straight. That was the reason I learned to like wasabi... one place we went to actually put a smudge of wasabi between the rice and the fish. Not the best way to get introduced to the stuff!

If you get the chance, you should try the urchin. It's smooth and creamy and has a nice taste of the ocean, if you know what I mean. It's not for everybody though, and can be hard to handle because it's so soft.

...great. After all this, I definitely know where I'm going for dinner...!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Evolvana In reply to Variable-Edge [2010-03-13 07:10:00 +0000 UTC]

Is urchin expensive? I guess so... some sushi in japan are 500 yen each! because they are made with a very good part of the fish. Maybe it's the same for urchin. In Tokyo I ate in a sushi restaurant and the cook was laughing at me with other customers because I only ordered the cheapest sushis... but it was so expensive there :/

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Variable-Edge In reply to Evolvana [2010-03-15 01:57:59 +0000 UTC]

Depending on the place, Uni may be one of the more expensive "regular" orders of sushi available (but still cheaper than getting it as sashimi!), but its price is usually comparable to that of an order of salmon sushi. If you get to treat yourself sometime, be sure to try it out!

Oh, and despite what I was saying about what I was going to have for dinner, I ended up going somewhere else with my sister that evening. I did, however, get to satisfy a curiosity I've had for quite a few years: chicken-fried steak. I've heard of it several times growing up in the States, but I never had it, so I was wondering what a cut of beef cooked like fried chicken would taste like.

The side dishes of corn and mashed potato had more flavor, but the steak itself had an interesting texture about it. I liked it overall, but I wouldn't go out of my way to hunt for it. It's definitely an acquired taste.

Ah, but to eat sushi in Tokyo. Even if they were the cheaper items, I still envy you!

Evolvana In reply to Variable-Edge [2010-03-15 02:10:04 +0000 UTC]

The sushi restaurant was nice and just next to the fish market. But yeah, it was expensive -_-

I tried beed sausages yesterday, and it was horrible x_x I don't know why they create that in New Zealand!

Hmmm the forum on DA is good only if you do small topics, or topics that request a certain level of culture. Because I just started a topic about a movie, and there are so many stupid people coming just to insult you if they don't have the same opinion, or saying that you should learn english when you make a little vocabulary/grammar mistake and try to use that against you and laugh at you... most of them are 14 -_- they should try to do something with their lives instead of going on internet to insult people.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Variable-Edge In reply to Evolvana [2010-03-15 02:34:25 +0000 UTC]

I actually tried to look up beed sausages on Wiki, but couldn't find anything on them. Could it be that they're that bad? O_o

The internet and its forums are great places to discuss things and meet wonderful people to chat with, but it's also overrun by so many misfits and other unsavory types that really makes you wonder why you should even bother. Truth to say, finding someone like you to talk to online is like winning a lottery. Lord forbid that you have a different opinion with those types, who are so black and white that seem to believe that "if I'm right, then it follows that you're wrong, and I'm right all the time!"

Argh. Really. Argh.

I would rather talk to someone with grammatical mistakes than someone who insists on writing in that inane internet "leet speak" with their "OMFG! Teh moviez totally pwns!!!!11!11!"

(steps away from computer to wash hands after typing drivel... ok, I'm back.)

Which forum was it in? I'll look for the topic.

Evolvana In reply to Variable-Edge [2010-03-15 02:37:10 +0000 UTC]

Haha sorry, "beef" sausages. I hate that keyboard.

Hmm I guess I posted in the "Complaints" forum. I shouldn't have, I know. Maybe it's overrun by that kind of people... I just wanted to say that I wasted my money by going to the cinema to see Alice in Wonderland...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Variable-Edge In reply to Evolvana [2010-03-15 03:19:16 +0000 UTC]

Ah. I was beginning to wonder what "beed" tasted like.

Personally, I happened to enjoy Alice, thought it was an interesting take on the concepts (though compared to Avatar, it didn't really make the most of available 3D technology). Are we to consider each other stupid then, as based on (an unfortunately) majority 'net behavior?

Absolutely not! Heck, if everyone liked everything equally, then there would be no variation in the world whatsoever, and that would be boring.

Plus, it would take all meaning out of my screen-name.

In any case, you have your own opinions and are just as entitled to voice it as any kid with a keyboard. It would have been more productive to talk about the pros and cons of anything, and any fan worth his salt should also be able to admit to the shortcomings of things he likes. I mean, I liked Revenge of the Fallen but I can easily admit that it was not the be all and end all of awesome movie-making!

As for Alice, it wasn't so much dark as it was just twisted, but definitely not to the level of Burton's better works. I was more fascinated by the presence of what I like to think of as Tim Burton's "regular cast", it's like seeing different plays produced by the same theatre company. I wish, however, that the Caterpillar had more or a presence. I love Alan Rickman's voice!
