Description
This sketch was made for a cosplayer Sofia Ajram (Orobas Cosplay ). It's inspired by my previous Irelia art Β but I wanted to come up with a new, cosplay-oriented design.Sofia made an incredible and detailed outfit based on it. You can see it here:Β imgur.com/a/1wsDG
She had it at PAX and even took a photo with Morello!

If there is one character that desperately needs a re-design in lol its Irelia. Riot needs to go back to some simpler designs like this they just read so much better when viewed from an RTS perspective. great work dude.

I beg to differ
shes an assassin, mobility is her top priority, so having her unrestrained was a good choice. Also, her blades that float around her pretty much ensure that any would-be attacker never get close enough to attack her
I personally never understood why they designed her to look more restricted around her waist. it made her look more clunky, and if she got jumped, she wouldn't be able to turn around quick enough
I get what your saying though, but I think it makes sense. Now if that was a leona redesign, now that would be weird lol

So why not make this armor from another material?
Here. Her metal leg armor seems clunky, too tight and uncomfortable. Metal bra is just wrong in many ways and doesn't protect her at all. I can say something bad about high heels too. I think she, as an assassin, should just wear nothing at all or normal bra or leather armor.
Armor in game isn't much better, but offers more protection and suits Irelia's current role (fighter).
I don't like this redesign, because I despise boobed (busty? My english skills are inferior) and oversexualized armors. Still, this art is nice.

you do bring up a good point, I mean, I didn't think she was in heels first, I thought she was just on her toes, till i looked through the cosplay pics. that's super unpractical
But as for the leg armor, I think it works better from thigh and up. I mean, looking at the last, it seems to be in a strange, spiraling motion, meaning it would be hard to do anything other then lift her leg up and down (I think, I'm not an armour expert) and it looks like there isn't any joints on the right knee, so she couldn't unbend that leg anyway. with this, it gives her a larger range of motion, because it seems to just clamp on her leg and run to the knee and end before the boot.Β
Over all, I just think its better then the original, while her skins (except for infiltrator. she looks way to clunky in that) define her better as an assassin (I had to look up that she was a fighter before assassin lol, because every time I see her while playing, I end up dead because riot cant balance for shit)Β
I think if riot would remake her, that she would probably end up more like kat then anything. I think it would definitely fit her more
and for your last statement. I do to, but I don't crucify a piece and the artist if makes sense. less armor makes sense on her because she doesn't need it. I mean, what if Nico robin ( I see that your a OP fan, and i know this is a bad example because nobody in that universe wears armor) had armor in a fight. it makes no sense because she would kill you before you could get close enough to do anything, and I think its the same with irelia

I played her a lot and always imagined her as a swift assasin, who jumps in and out of the battle. Her movement have to be unrestricted.Β She's just like that in my head.
Plus the fact that she was already dead once, she does not fear death anymore

This looks great! I especially like the new leggings. In my opinion the loincloth thingymajig should either hang lower or even be removed entirely, though.

I'm not gonna lie - as someone who doesn't play Irelia, I can't see what's different. After opening her artwork, aside from minor changes to the pattern on the armor - the only difference I could see was that her stomach is now exposed. Given that she died and is essentially a lich, it'd be cool if her design had a visible wound (maybe similar to Mass Effect's Legion, where his chest has a gaping hole).Β
