Description
This was made, in collaberation with [link] for the 17th pack of [link] . Check 'em both out.I started creating this after a weird dream and as such it's a rather personal piece. I spent so much time in this, you wouldn't believe it. It started out as just the mushroom with some props, but then the people over at evoke told me I needed to add more. So I made an island with more wires. People still said it needed more. I went in a complete frenzy and started thinking what else to add. This is the result, with some magnificent postwork by . Show him some love!

This is really interesting!
It reminds me of Alice in Wonderland, for some reason. But...a lot more frightening.
I think it's neat that a rainbow is kinda of contecting the two islands.

Beutifully surreal. You were able to solve your problem of filling up space with the intricacy in the dark areas, while balancing with strong focal points in the illuminated points. The dream-like surreal quality of this work reminds me of Dali's work, but the elements in it that are personal to you define it as a unique work. (sorry, I hate comparing artists like that, but the dream-like effect makes me think of his work)
I love how there's an almost unnerving contrast between light-focused beauty and creepy imagery. The mushrooms and rainbow over the hazy background provide a natural look and color in contrast to the slabs of organic-seeming platforms and wires.
I'm personally particularly fond of the grass/hair folicles growing from the ground/skin-like surface, and the ambiguity in it.

Thanks for the read, you get the award for best comment on this piece haha. Other people should take an example out of you, instead of constantly telling it just reminds them of Dali .

I actually felt pretty bad about saying the thing about Dali as well... I really hate comparing works of two artists like that, because I don't think it's fair for one artist to get critique based on the work of someone else. I think that's demeaning to the art... but I wanted to mention it because it -does- have a surreal state and subject that might be similar to his work... but the fact is, that it still is very personal to you, and nothing like what you would see anyone else do. That in itself was impressive to me.
And I'm glad you appreciated my comment.
