I am very impressed by the details in this costume. how were the bayonets made? I'm thinking about constructing my own, and your bayonets are the coolest ones I have seen.

unfortunately those bayonets didn't last very long, they looked great but weren't as structurally sound as I would have liked. I can still tell you how I made them if you like, and perhaps you can perfect them from there. I used a door hinge to hold the blade in place (just bent it a little so that it would fit around the wood). the handles were pvc pip with electrical tape around them. The small metal piping that connects the blade to the handle was a combination of copper tubes and steel screws. The copper was the weak point though, and unfortunately I couldn't find anything similar in a stronger material at the time.

I loved the use of the door hinge. very creative and it looked really cool too.
too bad the copper didn't hold up.
I'm working on making my own blades out of metal right now. we'll see how that goes. . .

main reason mine were wooden was for lightweight and to pass most con's safety regulations (most don't allow metal weapons anymore)
